I've done this to see where our deficiencies will be when the group is a little more mature. The question marks are spots where I don't think there's an obvious long term fit.

B: Wood Roughead ?????
HB: ?????? ???????? ?????
C: Bontempelli Griffen Macrae
HF: Dahlhaus Stringer Hunter
FF: Crameri ????? Hrovat
FOLL: Libba Minson Wallis
INT: Stevens ?????? ??????? ??????

The ones I think will be involved (and I hope will be quality players) are Talia, Darley, Campbell, Grant, Smith, Roberts & Honeychurch, however in my mind they either don't command an obvious spot on the field, or I'm not 1000000% convinced they'll be playing. Obviously JJ will be on the list if he hasn't been traded but I'm more hoping rather than believing he'll be an obvious rebounding half back. The ones I'm most confident about making it are Campbell, Grant and Darley.

why on earth would we just sign him for 3 years to trade him at the end of the year?

anyhow, think this is something worth coming back to after the trade/draft period

I want to slot Fletch in at either end but I can't decide, and who knows who we'll target. Another tall mid (ideally Laverde) slots in there too, I'm not sure who will come out. I've got Griffen at half forward because I think he'll be down there for most of the game in a few years. Hopefully Clay just eats up his rehab and we can get another 30 odd games into him before the start of 2017, and he can monster them.

I like what Koby brings to the table but I'm not 100% sold on him making it just yet. Physically he's huge, and he has amazing goal sense, but he's just inconsistent at the moment. I suppose it is easy to forget he's only played 45 games. I'm not sure what to make of Big Will, but I'd think Campbell will hold the number one ruck mantle in 3 years time.

think its way too early to call probably

got to see who we trade in/draft

would fill a lot of those ????
Yep definitely. Just going through it, it looks as though our forward line will be good enough, save for a gorilla, but if Talia doesn't come through our back line will be, at best fragile, if not poor.

Great thread but 2017 is probably a bit far to project especially considering we will have three drafts (2014, 2015 and 2016) and should get another 10 or so young players that will probably push guys like JJ and Grant out.

Pretty much show whats most of us know, we have a pressing need for a KPF and a HBFer to replace Murphy.
KPD wise we have Robers and Z. Cordy not in my best 22, reckon we will take Lever in this years draft who will hopefully be our future CHB or Laverde who we could play off half back (or in the midfield and put Griff off half back since he will be in his early 30's) which fills 1 of those 4 spots.

Pretty stoked with where we are at considering most of those guys will be in their mid 20's in 2017 and we will have 3 drafts to find 4 or 5 spots.

I think Jones will make it as a second tall but we will have to look hard at drafting/trading for a gun KPF which is going to be the hardest position to fill for us.

Strong lineups being offered here - shows what a good job has been done by recruiting/development in the last few years.

Obvious gaps are KPPs at both ends, replacement for Murphy and maybe another HBF. TBH it looks like our recruiting/trading aims are pretty simple given how our young mids are tracking - keep them and build around them accordingly. Can we get a few good KPPs in the next couple of drafts that will mature in enough time?

I'm not entirely sure that Minson will be there in 2017 - who knows how carrying the ruck duties single-handed for most of the last couple of years will affect his longevity. Important we develop one of our young potential rucks now, or get one from draft/trade.
