Autopsy Hawks vs Buddy Boy and the COLA kids

Ahhh, very satisfying win! I can cop losing to most teams, you can't win 'em all, but not to Sydney who I have no respect for. Wasn't looking too flash there for a while but we found a way to win. Very proud of my Hawks tonight :)

Breust 45 (3)
Roughead 44 (4)
Gunston 41 (1)

We lose the best key forward in the competition to another club and yet we are still by far and away the highest scoring side in the competition this year. Our ability to score quickly is remarkable.

But who is going to kick Buddy's goals?

What are the odds they all finish the season on the exact same number of goals? Had Gunston been paid a single free, it'd be even closer.

All three should have kicked more. If Roughead kicked accurately he would've been close to BOG and Gunston missed a couple of easy ones as well and a couple of frees that he should have got.

Sydney's defence is exactly the type of defence we need to come up against in September. In 2012 we were one dimensional, it was Buddy first , if it wasn't Buddy then it was Ruffy. Now we have guys who have improved out of sight that are so diverse it's impossible to match up on. Ruff and Gunno are the marking targets, Bruest is the small/med guy who can crumb and take contested one on one marks and poppy is that freakish small who can kick goals and created all sorts of issues defensively, oh and there's a bloke called Cyril!

How the hell will these campaigners beat us again? We get Lake back, he will take care of Tippett. They can have Buddy, hell let's give him 6 goals on GF day, where else will they score from?

We are to diverse up front, we match them in the middle and they are slow and one dimensional in the forward half. They are a good side, but they rely on to few for to much.

I love this club

Witches hats and all
I can only assume that you haven't become a father during the game?

There is something to be said for great timing!

Breust is an incredible player. Shame to see he won;t make AA side this year on account of some rotating mid taking the small forward role.

There's no chance of that happening. Breust will make the All-Australian side this year. He's kicked 45 goals from 17 games and hasn't been held goaless at all. He's certain to make the team. There's a pretty big gap between Breust and the next best small forward.

Or one who can't tackle, run or chase (Eddie "cough" Betts).

As W. Churchill said,
Never in the field of footballing conflict has so much been paid to so few for so little in return.

That's Wayne Churchill, 74, from Deniliquin. Good bloke. Smart, too.

Not by me in the Yabby Medal count...
I'd love to be able to give 10 votes. Stratton played a great game. So did Mitchell. So did Hodge. And Bruest did some great things too.

In the end, it was a toss up between him & Birchall. Birch played the get out role brilliantly tonight. Possibly his best game this year.

I'm still on a boner! Is that normal or even a little bit embarrassing? Go Hawks! By far the most explosive team to watch no matter who you barrack for! Lake, Sewell and Rioli to come back in!

I'm having a little bit of a lend; taking a dig at the usual way they select that side. Packing the onballers through the specialist backs and forwards.

Get the F**k in! Go Hawks! Love seeing those bunch of pricks lose...especially Goodes...oh yeh, and Judas.

Suck s**t to the Cola cheats! Beaten by a side with real heart and soul who do things the hard way and don't rely on handouts. Was great to be there with 70,000 others to see the AFL's golden child go down.

Our leaders really stood up tonight. Hodge, Lewis, Roughie, Mitch, Birchall, Smith, Shiels, Bruest, Burger and Gibbo were all terrific. Was very pleasing to see lesser lights such as Litherland, Poppy, Suckers, Schoey and Langers stand up.

Thought Stratton did some great things in the second half and McEvoy finally took some contested grabs when the game was there to be won.

Our ball movement was quick and fluent until we got to half forward. Have to tidy up his aspect but can't be too critical after a gutsy win like that.

Malceski and McVeigh were both well held and Tippett was useless once the ball hit the ground. Thought Schoey did okay tonight and the back six held up alright against the greatest forward line money can buy.

Happy 200th Roughie. His best big game performance that I can remember!
