Boak and Gray very very close. Been on Gray since about round 4-5 and now everyone is actually starting to talk about him a lot, i'm glad i have so much on him to win ports votes, but nowhere near a lock.

Gave my explination behind these votes a few posts aboveI hope to heck that your on the money and theres someone above Fyfe when its said and done.
Really split between him and Roughead for the 1 voteLuke hodge against Sydney? And is he a chance to better than we think? Polled 15 or so last year in a fairly avg season for him. Is the captain, doesnt go off at the umps anymore and has played increasing onball time compared to last season. His clearances have doubled and possessions increased by 4 on avg
Should probably mention where I source my votes from
I use a mixture of
- Remembering the game (If I watched it, dont usually get to see all 9 games)
- Stats (Supercoach scores can be useful when determining effectivness)
- AFL Match Report
- The Age/Herald Sun player votes
- BigFooty Medal Board
- Each Club boards MVP voting
In alot of the above mentioned instances, Gray had fewer touches than others but was far more damaging (eg in the Melbourne game numerous outlets had him as BOG)
I probably lean more towards midfielders that kick goals as well, not sure if there is a link between this an actual votes
I do the same, watching games first, then stats, AFL reports, Newspaper/online votes... I am overseas and have an online AFL account, so often I get to watch 7-9 games throughout the space of a week... Agree with your cocmment on Gray having more 'effective' touches, however his polling history is what worries me the most, and is probably why I have been more cautious polling him.... Anyway I don't think I am right or wrong overall, just did it for interest sake, and can definitely see merit in the way you polled the games (in fact the loss to sydney, which was a game I didnt watch, Im starting to think he def deserves some votes in that game based on reports/stats)!
Anyway only time will tell, and who knows by years end we might have a definitive winner of the port votes!

what's your proposed fix given it's not a medal for the best, it's for the fairest and bestI wish they would just fix the bloody rules and there would be no issue.

INterested in thoughts on Essendon..... Jobe is back in a few weeks and I think Heppell is over rated as a brownlow chance, whilst Goddard polls poorly. If Jobe can pull off a few votes in the final couple of games from the umpires that clearly love him, he may well yet still when the Essendon count.
You don't need to take the fairest part out, they just need to use common sense. A deliberate act like Vickery would obviously make him ineligible. A good example is Fyfe, the rules have changed during the same season, how is that fair in any way? What was reportable in Round 4 wasn't even being looked at 6 weeks later. If the tribunal can't find consistency (and GOD know's the can't) then there has to be a way that the player can still be eligible from accidental contact - even if it was high.
