Looks like F1 will be heading back to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico next year if reports from the local press are to be believed. Not a bad track and I imagine there will be a fair bit of local interest.
Bernie says lots of things. Inb4 he takes a $30M hosting few then says the track isn't up to whatever imaginary standard he comes up with.

If it does get up though, be interesting to see the impact it has on the crowd attendance for the US GP.

22 races are currently on the calendar for next year. That's ******* stupid.

Abu Dhabi
Australia
Austria
Azerbaijin
Bahrain
Belgium
Brazil
Britain
Canada
China
Germany
Hungary
India
Italy
Japan
Malaysia
Mexico
Monaco
Russia
Singapore
Spain
United States

.....

I'm pretty sure there's an agreement for no more than 20 races per season - I wouldn't mind a GP every fortnight though....

Wouldn't put it past Bernie to try and push it through.

I prefer less-is-more though. A Grand Prix used to be a really big, special important event. Being a Grand Prix winner was a huge deal. Now? There's so many it's lost value IMO.

Back in the day I remember the Las Vegas Grand Prix being run in the car park of Caesars Palace casino - as Bruce would say "SPECIAL!"

They've been held everywhere.

But they used to be a lot more special. Anywhere from 2-5 weeks between races. Only 16 or so a year. They were huge deals. Now they're like home and away games in the AFL season.

Russia won't have a race next year
Russia will be survive because money talks in Bernie's F1 world. Azerbaijin gets a guernsey for the same reason, just like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. All are energy rich with money to splash on F1.

My kingdom for a decision being made and stuck to in this sport.

Can't complain about them canning this one.

And keep the faith re: double points. Mid season rule changes aren't exactly unheard of in F1.

Harsh. Vergne has done a good job. His time at STR looks pretty decent considering how well DR is doing. I feel like he is comfortably worth an F1 seat and I'd hate to see him go when pay drivers are on the grid (always).

Max Verstappen is a MEGA talent. He's no pay driver.
I'm fully aware of who Verstappen is and what he's doing. I didn't mean it as if JEV was being replaced by a pay driver, I meant I'd hate to see JEV out of F1 when there are still pay drivers in the field that he could replace.

However I understand the practicalities of F1 and I know there's always going to be talented guys outside and cash strapped hacks in.

Ah yes fair call.

JEV's looked solid, but so did Alguersuaei and Buemi. I'd rate JEV ahead of both of them, but Red Bull have massive standards.

If RBR let JEV go I'm sure he can pick up a drive elsewhere, he's got too much talent to be shut out of Formula 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Lotus as a Reserve Driver with the plan of getting a race seat once Maldonado or Grosjean move on. With Total being their big sponsor I'm sure they will be happy with another French driver and Vergne definitely has enough talent to belong in F1. Would be an attractive option for Vergne as well compared to driving for Caterham/Marussia and it's tough to see him getting a drive for a midfield team unless someone's contract ends early.

Just trying to find out other debut ages. I believe Button and Vettel were 20? Alonso was 19, as was Alguersuari.

Vettel was 19 (turned 20 two weeks later) and scored a point on debut. Only teenager to score a Formula One point. Verstappen has 3 years to do that.

Edit: Kvyat scored points as a teenager as well of course.
