A mystery benefactor has donated $1.5 million worth of memorabilia to Collingwood – a collection that includes the Brownlow Medal the late Len Thompson sold for his children's sake. Collingwood is hoping to eventually have the Collingwood-specific donated items form part of a museum-like display at the club.

Ross & John on 3AW took the idea one further this morning and suggested why not establish an AFL Museum.

What should be on display in such museum?

- The Batmobile from the 1991 grand final
- Meatloaf's performance from the 2011 GF on permanent video rotation
- The football set from World of Sport
- Warwick Capper's shorts
- A scoreboard from the 50's / 60's, complete with the around the ground scores
- Some of the shocking clash jumpers adopted by clubs over the years

Dipper's moustache

Bruce Doull's headband and upper-arm/shoulder hair.

Some reference to the SANFL and WAFL and other state leagues.
The women's loo can be called the WAFL Room, and the men's, the SANFL...

Seriously, there would have to be representation of all state leagues

The National Sports Museum at the MCG does have an AFL section in it. Well worth a look IMO.
Its good, but Australian Rules is a unique code and we ought to have a dedicated museum, whether its an annex of the NSM located elsewhere, or otherwise probably doesn't matter. There's not enough museums in this country. I know this is off topic, but you go to London and they have really good museums for everything. I think Stockhom, Sweden even has a sex museum.
