In 1988 Richmond and St Kilda played in Round 13, they then clashed again in Round 16.

Is this the closest two teams have played twice against each other in a home and away season. ?
Of course you mean apart from 1916 where every team played every other team every 3 weeks.

possibly been answered but list of players who have polled 3 votes and their side has lost by 30+ pts? could you also make it for 50+ pts.

if the list isn't too big could you also do it for 2+ votes in 50+ losses.

thanks

In 1988 Richmond and St Kilda played in Round 13, they then clashed again in Round 16.

Is this the closest two teams have played twice against each other in a home and away season. ?

In 1943 both Essendon & Fitzroy and Richmond & Footscray met in Rounds 11 and 13.

In 1988 Brisbane met Hawthorn in Rounds 12 & 15.

Note that of the 9 examples of 2 & 3-round breaks (1943/1952/1988), Richmond/St.Kilda 1988 was the only pairing where the result was reversed. Essendon/Geelong drew after Essendon won the first match in 1952.

Thanks RTB.

When was the last time a team had 3 players finish a season with 50+ goals?

Hawks currently have Roughead, Gunston and Bruest with 40+.
Only happened twice in h&a rounds:

1993 North Melbourne (Longmire 75, McAdam 67, Carey 64)
1994 Melbourne (Lyon 64, Schwarz 54, Jakovich 51)

Including finals:
1926 Melbourne (Moyes 55, Davie 50, Johnson 50)
1935 South Melbourne (Pratt 103, Moore 52, Nash 51)
1938 Collingwood (Todd 120, Fothergill 65, Pannam 54)
1971 Richmond (Hart 59, Bartlett 53, Richardson 50)
1972 Richmond (Balme 55, McLean 55, Hart 52)
1977 Hawthorn Hudson 110, Matthews 91, Hendrie 52)
1984 Hawthorn (Matthews 77, Judge 63, Brereton 50)
1993 North Melbourne (Longmire 75, McAdam 68, Carey 64)
1994 Melbourne (Lyon 79, Schwarz 60, Jakovich 51)
2000 Brisbane (Lynch 68, Bradshaw 56, Power 52)

Melbourne 1926 being the only premiers.
Hawthorn joins North Melbourne in 1993 and Melbourne in 1994 to have three players kick 50 goals in the H&A season:
2014 Hawthorn (Roughead 62, Breust 53, Gunston 51)

Breust and Gunston need to get to 55 for either of them to be the 2nd best #3 forward after Carey in 1993.

Anyone know where I might find stats on "players used in a season" for each team throughout each season over the years? I want to see how closely it corelates to finalists/premiers and the also-rans.

Just wondering with the Tiger's 9 wins in a row....would a net H & A season tally of 12 wins be the fewest achieved with such a long winning streak? Just a curio, it's been an intoxicating ride seeing them come from impossible, to mathematical chances, to a bit of a hope, to a possibility, to reality. It smashes the Lions 1984 effort of going from 5-11 to making the top 5, and the Bears of 1995 who went from 4-11 to make the top 8.

2 questions.

When was the last year where 1 team failed to score 100 or more?

With Geelong's score of 21 17 143 vs Brisbane 12 9 81, when was the last time Geelong scored that much or higher vs Brisbane at Kardinia Park?

Geelong's previous high score against the Brisbane Lions at KP was 20.8.128 in Rd 1 2006. They did kick some big ones against the Brisbane Bears though, with 25.29.179 in 1989 being the middle peg of the triple 100-point win sequence.

Geelong's record against the Lions is quite poor given their recent imperious record against almost all sides recently, tonight's win merely squaring the ledger at 14-14 since 1997. Richmond by contrast leads the Lions 15-8-1 in the same period.

The annual AFL Season Guide has in recent years listed the numbers for each club from 1955 season onwards.
Why start with 1955 you may ask - who knows ? Makes no sense to me.

If Geelong happen to win the 2014 premiership (which I doubt they will; Hawthorn and Sydney look way too strong), the West Coast Eagles will be peeved after missing the finals with a percentage of 114, while the Cats percentage is 113, amazingly low for a top 4 team.

In 1932 Geelong themselves missed the finals with the best percentage, with Richmond VFL premiers that season. Are there any other examples where a non-finalist had a better percentage than the eventual premier?

peeved at themselves for going 0-9 vs the top 8
