Hello fellow Women's Footy fans,
With the finals underway, we would like to invite all of you to provide feedback about the state of the BigFooty Women's Footy Board.

To begin with it would be great if you would take a few moments to vote in the poll above, but more importantly it would be appreciated if you could post your thoughts about how things are going within this thread regarding this board. Everything is fair game; from me the moderator, to the quality of the discussion on the board itself, to the structure of the forum and everything in-between. Voting is useful, but we are most interested in ways you think the Women's Footy board can improve, what we are doing right, what we are doing wrong, what we could be doing and what we should be doing. Also your general thoughts about your use of this forum would be welcomed.

As Moderator I won't touch or reply to this thread for 7 days to allow everyone the chance to respond without jumping in all the time to reply. That will come after the 7 days.

Thanks

Your Mod Team

I voted average, but with more traffic, I would have voted great. Its a conundrum in that the board would have no issues that mattered with more activity, but to get the activity, there may need to be tweaks.

The primary issue is that womens footy is at most a curiosity to most BigFooty posters, so most would rarely look here, and even more rarely comment. I suspect that aanother reason is that the people who are interested in womens footy, are in the main, not Bigfooty posters. The people most interested in the female game tend to be connected to it in some way, such as the players themselves, family friends etc, and they use twitter, facebook and a few dedicated womens footy sites rather than Bigfooty.

The pity is that it is areas of footy like Womens footy that is ideal for a forum like BigFooty. If I want a debate on the Eagles list management, or the sins of Eddie McGuire, I can just go to the local pub, but if I want to discuss the future of womens footy, there are fewer options.

I think that the key would be to get the people involved in Womens footy to post here. This makes the board more current and meaningful, but I do not know how you do that. I think it would be in their interest though, and perhaps that is the selling point. I do not know of a forum used by womens footy that is as suitable to wide ranging debate as Bigfooty, and to have these debates occurring in a forum visible to a large section of the footy community is to me a big advantage.

Hear Hear Jatz14. I really enjoy your videos. To be honest womens footy is a bit of a niche area. I know the stats about the fastest growing participation area of AFL but I think you will find a majority of women are discussing the game via Facebook as part of their overall media consumption rather than specialist internet forums.

Apologies for taking awhile to reply.

I think the Women's Footy board could be more active, but it needs a couple of things for that to happen.

1) Personally, I'd like to this the placement of this board moved UP to below Bay 13, but higher than the AFL team forums - just so it catches the eye.

2) With that move, we need to clean up some old posts here, post some more article and video footage/replays to make it look more appealing. The more content, the more educated people become and the more conversation is driven.

I'll declare my hand by saying I run VWFL Radio and try and pop up some replays when I can, but I certainly should be doing more here to promote women's footy. There is current a site (Girls Play Footy) which writes round-by-round articles, would be good for Big Footy to work in with them to get some more content here.

what women's footy does need his more exposure in the media, ive seen some H/S articles on the finals series
but more is needed
