Someone better tell Graham Wright the bad news.

Yeah it's good that we have these oracles of wisdom on Bigfooty who know the details of these things and can tell us peasants all the juicy goss. Is Wrighty a member of BF? Because this information would probably be of crucial interest to him.

He's going to be pissed when whoever breaks it to him that he's making deals with Monopoly money.

Kidding, right?
Touched a raw nerve there? We can all 'manage' a lot better with an extra 9.8% ;). Pretty funny to see Sydney posters boasting their 'better management'.
Fine, stay ignorant of our great club.

Here's a couple of professional, impartial opinions, just in case you are interested in learning a little:

The scary thing is Sydney supportes are so used to handouts and advantages handed to them on a platter, that they have brainwashed themselves into thinking their club's management has something to do with it. If Sydney had to operate under the same conditions as a Western Bulldogs, they wouldn't survive.

Bulldogs get over 3million a year from the AFL mate, number of Melbourne clubs would cease to exist without AFL support.

Here we go again....

Did you even read the articles I posted the links to?

So Garry Lyon is a brainwashed Sydney supporter?

Jake Niall is a brainwashed Sydney supporter?

Don't EVER let facts get in the way of your fondly-held prejudices.

One of the weirdest illusions that hawthorn supporters have at the moment is that there is a lump sum of money available for them to recruit a big free agent at the end of 2015, with Dangerfield and Cotchin being the names thrown around.

Simply put there is no money.

Hawthorn are at a high % of their salary cap spending. Money just doesn't appear in the cap. There was an illusion that Hawthorn had freed up 800K a year through players taking pay cuts for Buddy to stay. When that didnt occur that money went to the players who are still there such as Mitchell, Roughead, Bruest. Lewis just signed for 3 years and Mcevoy was brought in on decent money.

There is no way Hawthorn will be landing a "big fish" recruit at the end of 2015 unless Hodge, Burgoyne and Mitchell all retire
thanks for that.

If you would like my assesment of where Freo are at just pvt me.

strange OP....truth is none of us really know, but i think most could see that the salary crap pressure would have been greatly relieved with Buddy leaving....

personally, if we can hold on to our young talent i will be pretty happy.....i know alot of people think the hawks are old, but there is some serious young talent coming through, the development at Box Hill has been excellent

Makes me laugh how touchy Hawthorn supporters are about this.

All you have done is show your ignorance of team and list management. Way to put it out there :thumbsu:

I read the Niall article. He says you've built a very talented list using what he characterises as a "Free Kick" from the AFL. This is not news. We all know you have built a very talented list with the help of outside-of-cap payments not available to most other clubs. What is your point?

The "free kick", one part of a long list of factors, refers to free agency. But by all means focus on that pissy little CoLA amount to the exclusion of everything else the article says.

You know, it's actually easier to just realise that the Swans, like the Hawks, Geelong, Collingwood, Tigers, is an amazing club. You folks work yourselves up into such a lather finding conspiracies where none exist.

I don't want to derail the thread into a COLA thing but
a) 10% isn't a pissy amount
b) If we're talking Cost of Living then the Perth clubs have a decent argument to mount considering Perth is the most expensive city in Aus + getting anywhere else in Australia from there is crazy expensive.

what the selling home games.
You may call that selling out, I call that increasing our membership base.

the hand outs from the governments thanks to jeff

what handouts ?

the hand outs from the AFL giving you VFL park, then mirvac renovate them for you for nothing.

No hand outs from the AFL, they broke our 40 year lease with VFL park. We were compensated accordingly.

.As for our training base. The sale of Waverley park
Hawthorn and Mirvac struck a deal......The stand and the players race was heritage listed....

Under the terms of the deal, the oval and immediate surrounds were to remain for sporting purposes. Mirvac needed a club to occupy the oval. The Hawks, under the board of president Dicker, struck a deal that could be football's answer to Kerry Packer selling Channel Nine to Alan Bond – ie, it happens only once in a lifetime.

Hawthorn paid $1 and, in return, received the freehold on the entire oval and a portion of what is now the administrative buildings. Thus, the club gained millions of dollars of real estate – a freehold that gave the club serious assets on the balance sheet, a buffer for bad times and no rental costs – for nothing. The Hawks also bought the gymnasium at Waverley and receive a tidy return of about 8 per cent a year.

Hawthorn was also the face of Mirvac for a number of years as part of the deal

Its once again what you call good business.

the actural financial structure of the swans and hawks, are vastly different. the swans are very financially sound.
whoretorn needs to sell games in tassie & 1/3 of their revenue comes from poke machines, something the swans own none of

Once again good business, the handouts from the AFL to Sydney compared to Hawthorn is vastly in favour of Sydney.

Hows Windy hill going for you...oh thats right, government assisted, Who could forget the club using peptides to gain an unfair advantage on the football field. The ultimate sell out.
