They inked a new extension last year for seasons '15/'16. Pretty early to pull the trigger I'd say or a financially woeful decision was made last year.

Either way he's pretty stiff to get the axe, from what I can gather player retention looks to be the biggest motivator.

The one that destroyed it. It has veins of the Norm Smith sacking - board has stupid expectations and sacks a guy because he's not delivering to the ridiculously high bar they expect.

Club also becomes stale and doesn't adapt to the league's changing landscape thus getting left in the doldrums due to stupid administration.

If Port keep it up they'll be the bigger club in a few years. Moreover, they'll become what everyone expected and what the SANFL tried to keep out - the mentality of 'We are Port Adelaide and we are the best' is getting bigger by the year now.
