Why is it that we have a whole heap of new members in here today with their anti-Hird views? somewhat unsurprising when you check their post count and it is less than 100.

If you wanted to sack Hird fine, if you want to keep Hird fine.. but today had NOTHING to do with whether Hird should coach next year or not. A completely separate issue.

I think they have always been around but have kept Mum about their opinions. There are many that felt Hird should have walked of his own accord last year, but have waited to see how future events unfolded. See - I never wanted Hird sacked - I expected him to walk away - That is a significant difference.

Time to move forward and wipe slate clean.

If players want to move on, let em go.

They may have nothing more to give.

Those who want to go to war for this club, keep em. Build a new culture.

I don't understand the latest arguments from Smith and Wilson ( not for the first time ) - Wilson is saying the players could have been spared if we followed up on Evans course - Somehow Wilson forgets that ASADA decided to issue Show Cause notices in June 2014 - She still hasn't understoof that the AFL and ASADA are at arm's length - Smith is arguing that if Hird stood down in 2013 he would be back coaching with an unblemished record - But again Smith is forgetting about the role of ASADA.

Two first round picks, two second round picks....

Over $3,000,000

Patrick Ryder...

Kicked out of the 2013 finals

Two horrible, distracted years where we have not progressed as a club

Don't worry boys, we've still got Hirdy!

and you think getting rid of him would fix everything

strong logic

You say that as though we wouldn't have lost any of those things if we'd thrown Hird under the bus.

How about people just calm down and stop listening to Caro and the like..

Our club has a great list, strong leadership.. great coaching.. world class facilities and just played a finals series..

Much to be happy about.. so ONE player wants to leave for family reasons.. big deal.. really players leave for all sorts of reasons.. we should focus on the rest of the list that have remained incredibly loyal and united. Let that tell you how much they love the club and want to build something special.

2 years ruined and counting.

AFL have already ensured the club has a 2 year ban.

The AFL like destroying their own s**t and then fix it reminds me of this bloke

Interesting that Ralph has Hird gone and Thompson coaching if players accept deals, whereas Robbo has Hird and Thompson both gone. Smith has called for Hird's head and Caro has called for Hird and Little's head.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

One thing I'm not sure about legally is
1. Can we appeal just the costs order?
2. How much would an appeal cost?

If an appeal would cost significantly less I say we go for it.

Schlobbo's call is because of Bomber saying on 360 that if one player is banned, they will all have to go. Actually the most sensible and measured call of them all - and I agree, as have many on here. If a single player is banned then a fresh start. Immediately.
Everyone else is just ******* wishy washy, not wanting to be too critical of Thompson considering everyone adored his candour this year, and also how good is he to juxtapose Hird against. Leathery chuckling jokester versus the prince.
These clown journos and comm specialists are wanting any outcome that has Hird going - basically flapping wherever the wind takes them with everything other than their personal non-negotiable. For Caro and Pat, that's Hirdy. For Jon Ralph, eh I don't even give a single sliver of *

Robbo thinks the players wont roll over with Hird and Essendon likely to appeal because they believe their legal argument wasn't addressed by Middleton.
God NO! What the hell will it achieve if ASADA simply turn around and re-issue SC notices? I am so over this court action rubbish! If we are innocent then face the accusations head on and the truth should set us free. If we are guilty then plead away. Why the hell would we want to delay this nightmare?

I just have this niggling feeling we went down this legal path because deep down the club believe they have no chance of beating the notices. Hope I'm wrong.

Have the same worry. God I hope not - I will be ******* furious if that's the case

* Ralph. The biggest follower in the media.

I am probably in the minority here, but I am firmly of the view that it's better to die on your feet, than live on your knees.

I want them to fight, and keep fighting, if the club believe they are right. I am in Tasmania, but I will buy a full membership next year if they fight for what's right. If they stand by the staff and players and not give in to these bottom feeders in the media.

If we're smashed and decimated in pursuing this, at least I can continue to support and respect my club fully, because we didn't give in. I don't know how I'd feel about Essendon going forward if they sacrificed Hird, it would scar that's for sure.

Anyway. Yes it's wishy washy but I don't believe in succumbing to bullies, nor do I believe in letting down your mates. I'll happily pay so I can keep respect for my club for the remainder of my life.
