Glen Maxwell is the most remarkable batsman, he is Shahid Afridi but an upgraded batting version. Would be great if he could get his bowling to Afridi's level.

Our batting stocks are slowly rising from the depths they were at in 2009-10.

Does anyone know why Warner isn't playing?

After a fairly indifferent year of footy in which a lot of things about the game left me a bit cold I'm really looking forward to the nfl starting tmrw. Go da bears!
 
Also sad to see Brent Tate retire after a great career. Thought he was done a few time along the way but fought his way back after every injury. One of the great chins in sport

The big problem for Romo this year is our defence was already the weakest in the league and then on top of that it got smashed by injury. Would struggle to stop a high school team putting up a score on us.

As a result, Romo is going to feel ridiculous pressure to score on every drive and we will see turnover fests like yesterday.

Will all be Romo's fault of course - no one ever looks any deeper when they yuck yuck at us. ;)

I'm actually a bit of a Romo fan but the SF game was one of the worst I've seen him play in recent years. He was holding the ball forever (I haven't seen the coaches footage but probably due to Bryant and others not getting separation, and also not seeing wide open receivers) but instead of getting rid of the ball he was launching it into double (once) and triple (twice) coverage and surprising no one by getting intercepted. Also a fair few awful cases where he and the receiver wasn't on the same page - probably as a result of sitting on the preseason with his back.

On the plus side, can only get better...

I thought the defence didn't look as bad as advertised(still bad, just not THAT bad). The Cowboys also had a lot of success running the ball and their offensive line looked really good for the most part.
Who knows, maybe Romo would've improved if the game hadn't been over by the end of the 1st quarter.

The Intrust Super Cup preliminary final on Channel 9 last Sunday smashed free-to-air coverage of the AFL’s two preliminary finals that weekend.

More than 120,000 people watched traditional Brisbane rivals Easts Tigers and Wynnum Manly battle last Sunday afternoon.

It was a clash between plumbers, electricians, accountants and bar tenders as part-time footballers ripped into each other in another chapter of a gloriously bitter Brisbane rivalry.

The league final doubled 7Mate’s prime time coverage of the Sydney Swans thumping of North Melbourne on Friday night, which attracted 62,991 viewers.

The AFL’s preliminary final on Saturday between Hawthorn and Port Adelaide drew 88,721 viewers on 7Mate.

The AFL games were also shown live on Foxtel, attracting more than 400,000 national viewers to each, but there are no Queensland-specific viewers numbers available for pay television.

So those figures don't include foxtel and we're comparing a game that was televised on a day with no other sport on television at all vs ones that went up against NRL finals games? Wow
 
Not particularly relevant to the above but I've been watching the local league finals when televised and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I actually think semi-professional sport is about the best sports viewing. Because they make mistakes, aren't as fit or as well drilled, there are more opportunities for individual brilliance to shine. It makes it more fun.

Absolutely. I quite enjoy the intrust cup on Sundays and the finals have been great. Walked down the road to Easts for the semi last weekend. Was a great avo
