If Tim was really supporting his son he would be teaching him values such as "taking responsibility for one's actions" not avoiding them and blaming. It seems Tim has also learnt from the Hird school of taking responsibility.
I heard this on SEN this morning, joke. There he is blaming everyone else expect the group of people that put them in this hole in the first place.

Nah, support yes but encouraging your child to take responsibility is harder to do. I call him "Tim, I don't want my son to give up his Brownlow"
To this point, there has been no need to take responsibility because the SC notices have been held up by other factors. He admitted to taking AOD, so I get the feeling he isn't trying to avoid anything or deny anything, but is waiting to see the outcomes of all the manouverings up until this point.

As for Tim Watson............ do you expect him to say he wants his son to give up Charlie?

Lets get a realistic handle on our expectations here. Fathers will want the best for their sons. That aint going to change, so Tim watson is irrelevant to this conversation about right and wrong and ASADA. Jobe Watson is now faced with having to make decisions. This decision making has been delayed due to the lengthy ASADA investigations, so he wasnt required to do anything until that finished. Since the initial SC notices, the process has been further delayed by others actions. Its only natural that the players see how things play out because it would be folly to jump early and then see others get minimal sanction and yourself receive something much more. I wouldn't jump early and only a fool would.

Tim Watson epitomises all which is wrong with the football media. He is also fairly dumb, completely overlooking the fact that Essendon have made a rod for their own back. It is Essendon's spoilt brat behaviour which has tested the other clubs; not their "efforts" to "defend" players.

Caro was right when she said he is "hopelessly compromised". His cheerleading for the Bombers was only just bearable prior to this debacle. Now he is an insufferable bullshit artist, resembling a PR specialist rather than a TV personality.

Last time I checked the AFL or ASADA didn't inject players in a ''pharmacologically experimental environment'' http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/essendon-fears-drug-deceit-20130726-2qq3f.html).

It's all well and good calling other clubs hypocritical, but the reality is this club has tried to hide being every option available to them in order to justify or blame someone else for what they essentially created.

They can take responsibility for the actions, the governance, the appointment and reappointment of the head coach and the environment in which this club operated. The players were and still are a by product of what they created. They are simply using them as a means of defence now which I find despicable.

I hope they are fully punished by whatever law exists for the safety and welfare of the players.

"if it was their club..."

Timmy seems to be forgetting the important part - it wasn't anyone else's club.

If you didn't inject your players with unknown substances you can be as sanctimonious as you like.

^^^^^^In a nutshell.^^^^^^

Tim Watson should be telling his pal Albert and/or his club to Stop the Lies.

Hilarious.

As one of the comments says, it is a lame attempt to justify Essendon's strategy by saying "everyone else would have done the same thing"

Really?

1) this is assuming that every other club has the same lack of morality as Essendon
2)this is assuming that every other club has the same sense of self entitlement as Essendon
3) this is assuming that every club holds their club as more important than the whole competition
4) this is assuming that every club would endanger the health of their players
5) this is assuming that every club has a cult like transfixion for their coach.

The insular infantile argument is just so typical of a deluded fool who has been operating inside the Essendon bubble.

They are gobsmacked that their court case was so emphatically thrown out, that Middleton couldn't feel "the vibe" and resorted to facts in law.

They are amazed that their bulls*** just doesn't cut it.

They are so guiltless that they attempted to have the evidence and investigation suppressed for ever.

Who do this people think they are fooling? I mean really.

What is best for a son is to live a life that does not need to be defended for 18 months due to a lack of moral courage and not agreeing to the experimental program in the first place. Supporting a son to win at all costs attitude is not good parenting. Supporting Essendon 'whatever it takes' attitude before individual responsibility is not good parenting.

Yes I know Tim was exemplary in supporting his son's sporting interests and success from an early age and he attended his games and acted responsibility but he has been caught up in Hirdatistan for much too long. He was willfully blind to Hird and his ambitions that sacrificed his players, including his son. There must of been self-interest in this and some mid-life issues there wanting to relive his glory days. He was shamed as the St Kilda coach and took it to heart (he could hardly cope with being seen in public for a while) and maybe Jobe and Hird were his salvation.

And Jobe Watson will answer to those things.

His father is still allowed to be a father utmost and foremost.

Of course he's going to support his son to the end.

It's inappropriate for him to be treated as a legitimate media commentator on this issue but you can't blame him for choosing to back his son.

+1 I like Tim but he's hopelessly conflicted on this issue. Also, he's beclowning himself with comments like 'ASADA has dragged its feet. In fact, it still hasn't produced the evidence the players can respond to'.
