If Cyrol Rioli plays, he will have missed 12 weekends of football.

In relatively recent times, which players have played a grand final after missing 10+ weeks?

If the result set is very small, go for 8+ or 6+ weeks.

Most games missed, last 50 years:

Has there ever been an instance of a player polling a vote when their team has lost by 100 or more points?

Oooh, not a lot of wins in there for the returning players!

Poor Brad Symes, promoted after 12 weeks for a record Grand Final hiding. His next two matches were a premiership with Central District (SANFL) then Round 1 2008 with Adelaide, a three-point loss in which he gave away six of the Crows' 20 free kicks. In his final year on Adelaide's list he won the Magarey Medal (2012).

The percentage of votes (excluding drawn matches from the total) to players in losing teams last night was 18.36% - the third-highest ratio since 1984 after 20.74 (1985) and 19.52 (1987).

That's a welcome development, the trend had been steadily towards more votes for winners over the past 30 years.

Then I made the mistake of listening to five minutes of SEN this morning to hear some nong complaining about 3-votes going to players on losing teams! It's for the best player on the ground, who by any objective measure is often on the team that happens to finish behind on the scoreboard. Even Howcroft was attacking the system the other day, proposing a "winner's premium" for votes. Grrr.

Rourke's Rule: in a game between two contestants of similar skill, the winner is more likely to be the luckier one than the more skilful one.

(if necessary, this rant can be moved to a different thread)

Not sure where this in terms of being stump-worthy but who were the first players per team to be reported during a game and, further to that, each club's first player suspension?

From "Football's Black Book" by Jim Main (1998), this is each club's first reported player and first player found guilty of a charge (where the first player reported was not penalised).

At the back of the book is a statistics section in which Main lists "every report and charge ever made in AFL football from 1898 to March 1998. (This includes matches in practice competition, preseason competitions as well as interstate and premiership games.)"

Thanks very much Ron.

Would someone please be able to fill out this table below for Grand Finals only? Home team first. TIA.

What's the highest average winning margin in a season in VFL/AFL history and the lowest?

swans4eva! The WAFL.

Whoever is BigFooty's SANFL stats nut, the question above.

biggest avereage winning margin in the WAFL is 85 points by East Fremantle in 2006. The most amazing thing bout this record is they only won 4 games and finished last. They won their 4 games by 77, 94, 100 and 71 points. I have attached the top 10.

Cheers but I'm talking about a season average like, a season could've seen the average margin being 66 points for that season, not a particular team.

Hawks have set a club record winning 6 finals in a row. What's the overall record, and best for each club?

Pretty sure that North have played six 2nd semi finals under the double chance rule of winning that and therefore going straight to the GF, and losing the lot! Lucky they have had a pretty good record in PF's, having won 5 in succession from 1974-1978.

Is it possible to generate a list of players who left one team, St Kilda, and played in a Premiership elsewhere. The Saints list would include McEvoy, Guerra, Ball.....

Which team has had the most leave to play in a Premiership team?
