I'm suggesting that no one can say whether we've dropped the ball or whether we're carving out a superb coaching panel. No one knows anything!
Much can be assumed from what we do know, we are too comfortably in bed with the media in this town to be able (or want) to hide good news from them. But you are right only those in the inner circle know for sure at the moment. It will all come out eventually though.

Rowey probably gets his information from Phil Harper.

Soon we'll hear live and exclusive reports of the club's decision to upgrade from International Roast to Moccona coffee.

Fair point. What do we know though? What Rowey has said? His own stories contradict themselves! Who else has any information?

No one.
We know Sando was sacked promptly, even before the new CEO started.
We know we did not have an immediate replacement lined up.
We know that we will enter trade week without a recruitment manager or a coach. This is crap for a club in our position recovering from sanctions and having a star being non committal.
We know that Roo at least called Goodwin.
We know that there have been leaks about what a great coach was lined up that doesn't seem to surface now.
We know that people are counting themselves out of the race.
We know that Rowe and Cprnes are club ambassadors and are disappointed by what's happening.
We know that the club is in great need of good news before trade week but none seems forthcoming.

It all points to something going wrong along the timeline SOMEWHERE. But that's not certain of course.

No doubt getting way ahead of myself here, but if Bassett does get the job I'd love us to make an decent offer to Kieran McGuinness to become SANFL captain. He could be invaluable as an on-field teacher of Bass's system - a bit like (don't laugh) Ross Lyon has used Zac Dawson in the past (see: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...-it-comes-to-coachs-plans-20130614-2o9ss.html )
Yeah it'd be pretty harsh on Callinan, but we're ruthless now apparently.

Absolutley correct, but dont say that here. The "club can do no wrong" people will call you out.

300 pages and still not one credible leak. Well done AFC. I think.

"You have created the maximum number of bigfooty.com accounts allowed" WTF?!

We have to stop with this nonsense that just because your an assistant at a high flying power club you should be instantly viewed as a prime candidate (Bolton, Dew etc).... Generally speaking, these guys are just 'Johnny on the spots' that happen to be riding the coat tails of successful football departments that have made alot of good decision/appointments over many years. Their emergence is as much good luck then being an elite coach in waiting.

We need to be looking at all potential coaches from anywhere that have have all the necessary hallmarks to be successful and back them in.

I'll always believe we had a significant offer in front of Clarko that we thought would get it across the line. And it didn't, so now we're looking for option two.
