Biggest shitstorm for 2014: The AFL enter serious discussion with St Kilda about relocating them to Tasmania. Don't write this one off just yet...

All in all, I was pretty bad at this :p

OK the results have been tabulated, analysed, synthesised, inspected, investigated, turned upside down and regression tested. Scoring: 1 point for every correct answer except the names of the RS nominees (only half a point each) and you also get only half a point for correctly guessing the number of goals/votes but that's ONLY if you guessed the right player to get them. Here's some highlights and lowlights (actual winner details to follow later):

SECTION A - WESTERN BULLDOGS/FOOTSCRAY
Most Wins
- Only Walsh Bay got it right. He was also the outlier - nobody picked any fewer wins than he did. At the other end of the scale a few Kool-Aid-sipping, rose-coloured spectacle wearers :$ had us winning 12 games.
Ladder Position - Only BRG93 and Trent85 got this right. The outliers were Walsh Bay (15th) and dogwatch (7th:$).
WB B&F - Libba was the popular go with 23 out of 32 getting this one right. However only grassman75 got the trifecta. Fossie 32 got the trio (the right 3 but wrong order) - alas no points are awarded for picking a placegetter in the wrong place. Interesting that Stevens was a very popular pick for a B&F place, probably based on his good PS form. He was one of the more notable disappointments judging by these pre-season expectations.
Brownlow Best - most went for Libba (22 of us) and nobody picked Macrae.
Leading Goalscorer - Half of you got this right, but only Buckingham and Trent85 got Crameri AND 37 goals.
Most Improved - Based on his PS form Stevens (13) was the favourite but a lot got Macrae right (9).
Most Courageous - Jong (9) was the clear favourite but only Buckingham got Libba right.
Best First Year Player - in hindsight we look pretty dumb. Sixteen went for our #4 pick Bonty, but there was a fair bit of support for Honeychurch and even Prudden and Fuller!
Rising Star nominees - fourteen correctly said 3, which is well above quota for any team, but VitalDread had as many as five (leaving only 17 nominations to be shared among the other 17 teams!) I was surprised that the the player most expected to get a RS nomination was Hunter, so I'd have to rate him as one of the year's biggest disappointments too. Only 8 went for Bonty as a nominee (and only Mike__ picked Bonty to win it ... you were robbed Mike).
Most Kicks - Griff  the overwhelming favourite (24) - only grassman75 got Macrae right.
Most Handballs - Libba (28) was long odds-on and didn't disappoint.
Most Marks - Roughead (12) the favourite but three picked Macrae.
Most Tackles - Libba a justifiable favourite (22) and he won it by a street. I think he just about doubled his nearest teammate.
Most Goal Assists - While we were all thinking Dahlhaus (12) or Crameri (9) VitalDread was the only one to pick Libba. Really, Libba and Macrae just about swept all the WB season awards.
How many games for Prudden? - Five got this right (zero games). Most thought he'd play a handful but there were a few optimistic ones in double figures. The outlier was Sharkey66 who thought he was glory-bound with 14 games, best first year player and a RS nomination. Who knows, without injury maybe he would have starred (and we might still have McCartney as coa... no, we won't go there).
Membership Tally - Nobody got this dead right of course, or even within 100, but nearest-the-pin gets a point. Congrats to Dav1d who picked 31,907 - just 182 over the final tally. The outliers were bones54 (36,549) and at the opposite end stmookeyj (29,539). Amazingly four people guessed that membership would be exactly 31,954 ... spooky!
Footscray - 17 of the 32 correctly picked us making the finals. Nobody picked Goodes for B&F or Redpath for Most Goals. Surprising.

SECTION B - AFL
Premiers
- The predictions were shared almost exclusively between Freo (11), Hawthorn (10) and Sydney (9), with the one exception being VitalDread who picked Collingwood (guffaw).
Runners-Up - Most picked Hawthorn (10) but five picked Sydney. Only bones54 , who_let_the_dogs_out and Walsh Bay picked the Premier and Runner-Up correctly.
Spoon - StKilda was overwhelming favourite for the Wooden Spoon (22) and didn't let us down.
Brownlow Medal - there was an even spread with Libba just the most popular (6). None of us picked Priddis at the start of the year, but then nobody picked Priddis even on the day of the count. No shame there!
Coleman Medal - Only three picked Franklin. Roughead was the most popular pick (11).
Rising Star - Like the Brownlow, this was not an expected result before the season started: nobody picked Taylor. Jack Martin (10) was the favourite. A couple picked Hrovat, Fossie 32 picked Macrae (even though he was ineligible) and of course Mike__ picked Bonty.
Biggest drop from the top 8 in 2013 - I awarded this Collingwood (-5 spots) ahead of Carlton who only got there because Essendon were DQ'd. No correspondence will be entered into. It was a pretty popular result: 11 thought Geelong but next was Collingwood (7).
Biggest rise from bottom 8 in 2013 - WCE (11) was the most popular choice and was the correct one. Seven picked the WB.
Biggest shitstorm - A few amusing ones but mostly pretty meh. Several mentioned ASADA and the Dons but I have awarded a point to _M_16_ for "AFL Supplement scandal just drags on, and a few suspensions leave Essendon with list management headaches for 2015" Perhaps hasn't quite come to pass yet but looking more and more likely. Again, no correspondence please;).

Final scores to follow! (drum roll ...)

31, 954 is because of 1954, I assume.

Congratulations to the winners.

Also, congratulations and good on you to everybody who had a go.

I couldn't do this myself. I'd pick us as winning all games. winning the premiership, winning the Brownlow, Stringer kicking 100 goals etc.
