With the impending return of Luis Suarez to competitive football, I thought I'd drop this one in here for a laugh.

Now Suarez is a guy who has clearly been shown to be guilty of biting opponents, although the racism thing from a couple of years ago is less clear-cut. Effectively it was one man's word against another and the governing body decided 'on the balance of probability' (gotta love that old chestnut!) that he was guilty of the crime. Whether he did or didn't do it, the beat-up around it reminded me a lot of this current s**t-storm and the trial by media was out in full force.

The following link is related to his return following the racism suspension and typifies the kind of irrational thinking that has been rampant in these two years.

So a friend of mine's saying he got info from a mate who works in the AFL that Essendon has spent $15 million on legal fees for this s**t! Also that it doesn't take into account paying Weapon out and that the players will sue the club if they get done. 100% likely to get harsher penalty than Cronulla from digging too deep a hole, 4-8 month suspension that won't be backdated (meaning that it's not off-season and it'll be 18 games missed). If Hird's paid out that's $3 million more apparently as well.

When did this cluster**** get so bad that hearsay like this was floating about!? Then seeing stuff like Hird getting done for trafficking here is just making this even more ridiculous. That, or that AFL worker's a ******* knob who's politically grandstanding this bullshit. Are we eventually going to find out what's going on? This kind of abhorrent conjecture is getting on the nerves. This another "look like we're fighting 'till we fall" kinda thing?

Players have to be found guilty which is doubtful - What you are referring to is if players go to the tribunal - Players found guilty at Tribunal = 6 to 12 months suspension ( which will probably be backdated ) - Players take a deal 4 to 10 match suspension ( this is based on ASADA's original offer in Jun 2014 which was for players to miss 4 matches.

In the worst case scenario of players being found guilty they will miss matches - And it won't be 1 or 2 matches.

Hird and trafficking PEDS - This is a stretch and can hardly be pursued if players are found not guilty - And if trafficking is such an issue, why hasn't Dank been charged from his time at Cronulla.

This bloke should never be allowed on our grounds or near anyone from our club ever again...

Gutted... Purple has blocked me and I'm truley baffeled why, lol... Seriously! I'm pretty sure I only asked him a clarity question about Ryder a few weeks ago and was careful because I'd heard he was triggery on his block button... Lol

What a lil bitch.. Bahaha

Hey Damo, you suck, ya jackass.

Seriously, climb back under that miserable little s**t-encrusted bridge you came from, troll, and do something worthwhile with your life. Not that you have the imagination or intelligence to come up with anything in that vein.

Wow !

Never seen Doss come off the long run and deliver a thunderbolt.
Serious?

Pay more attention whenever that little troll comes up in discussion, my friend. That's not even close to the most ferocious barb I've directed at him. :)

How easy is this job?
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/hird-will-coach-while-thompson-in-limbo-20141022-11a67h.html

The run down:
Hird will be senior coach in 2015. He was suspended last year for 12 months.
Thompson doesn't know what he will do or where he will be. He filled in for Hird whilst he was suspended for 12 months.
Essendon play Sydney first up and maybe Hawks second up and Collingwood in Round 4.
It is a tough start to the year.
It will be made tougher because they might be missing a heap of players.
Players are facing bans from ASADA
If players are banned then the 27 players who aren't effected will have to play
The AFL has a contingency plan, probably to play the 27 player who aren't effected, but they are yet to confirm this radical plan
Essendon delisted 3 players today.

I mean there is literally nothing newsworthy in the whole article.. nothing. It is like article-writing-by-numbers-for-dummies. I really can't believe they are getting paid to produce this dribble.. baffling.

Would be interested to compile how many times they have used the phrase "34 current and past EFC players are facing possible suspensions from ASADA"...

Back to Go Blues and Bunk Morleand's posts about Hird possibly being charged by ASADA for trafficking of PEDS and similar substances - Following this line of thought this suggests that Hird was heavily implemented in the supplements program, despite the protestations of some who want to absolve Hird of any responsibility with supplements.

I am yet to see any evidence of this.

Kinder words than I use to describe him...

He's the pre-eminent communications specialist. The best news breaker in the business.

Yes, I guffawed as I said that.

I don't know what to say - As much as ASADA is incompetent they must have some evidence that Hird drove the supplements program - No mention of Corcoran,Hamilton, Robinson etc, etc.

That's Shooter McDamo to you, sir!

so we are officially not responding and trying to get this straight to the tribunal asap. Good news.

Bit of an understatement, but one gets the feeling the players reps are not exactly impressed with the evidence presented.

STATEMENT FROM AFL PLAYERS' CEO PAUL MARSH
By Paul Marsh Oct 23, 2014
Share on facebookShare on twitterShare on google_plusone_shareShare on email0

The AFL Players’ Association can confirm the players’ lawyers have reviewed the summary of evidence that has been provided by ASADA in support of the amended show cause notices.

The players’ legal team have had discussions with the players about the show cause packs and the material on which ASADA’s case is based.

The players affirmed their commitment to seek an expeditious process to give them the opportunity to remove the cloud that has hung over them for almost two years.

The players do not intend to respond to the show cause notices.

It is important to note that the onus of proving the allegations against the players that they were administered the prohibited substance Thymosin Beta 4, rests with the AFL. While ASADA is only required to demonstrate to the Anti-Doping Rule Violation Panel a ‘possibility’ of a violation, the much higher standard proof of ‘comfortable satisfaction’ is required to be proved by the AFL at the AFL Anti-Doping tribunal.
