What is everyones thoughts on the contracted player to be delisted? I'm not sure I've seen an indication from the club.

My preference would be to send Pears to the rookie list.
Browne to the rookie list

So looks like one of the guys that Port supporters said would be fair to chuck in with pick 17 as adequate compensation for Ryder, Ben Newton, was delisted/walked out of the club today...

Geelong will pick him up for nothing.

Former first round draft pick who has been ruined by injuries until 2014 was able to get any continuity in his game.

Had something like a 3 week stint of 30+ disposals, 7 clearances and 2+ goals at one stage.

That boat has sailed with us I would imagine, and as you say will more than likely end up at Geelong.

Does him not accepting a contract offer make him a 'delisted' free agent or would he go into the draft pool?

How's the process work to send a contracted player to the rookie list?

Delist player > Pay contract out > redraft player in rookie draft > sign new contract ?

This is what was annoying me they were offering up guys that they were going to delist anyway in combination with #17, which in my mind devalues the pick quite a bit!
He left them, not the other way around.

Amazing just how bad Melbourne have been at the ND.

How does that stack up against our drafting over the same period?

I would guess you could do that with any clubs drafting and highlight all their misses. Every club has them. I would suggest Melbourne creates their own misses, with poor development.

This is why Petrecca would be gunning for #1 so that he has a chance of being an ok player.

Yes every club stuffs up picks. But only Melbourne routinely stuff up first round picks.

So Twomey has an article with whos in the mix for each clubs first picks and has us with Lamb. Like this! best case he becomes a fyfe for us :p

wonder if de goey would still be there in 3 picks time? or take both the other way around?

Would be thrilled with Lamb if that were to eventuate. I think we're a very good chance at securing two quality kids next month.

I'd be disappointed if we took Lamb with our first pick. Would much rather any of the good ball users in De Goey, Cockatoo, Ellis, Menadue, Duggan, etc.
You might want to include Connor Blakely in that list too. Played in the WAFL most of the year despite only being in his draft year, averaged 21 touches for WA in the u/18s carnival, 7 clearances and at 78% efficiency. Wins his own ball, has a pretty reliable kick and moves at a reasonable pace. Could do far worse.

From what I saw his kicking didn't look very damaging, but yeah pretty reliable. He seems like he could have an immediate impact like Dunstan. I'm pretty happy with the ball winners we've got though and would like to bring in more classy users like Z. Merrett.

Going on that, you could almost say we have picks 15 and 18 as Melbourne are likely to pick 2 spuds with picks 2 and 3. :)

Another solid draft by EFC with 3/4 again turning into solid players. Melksham hasn't excelled but is a solid footballer, Carlisle great and Colyer really stood out in 2014. Melboure 2pts, EFC 5pts

2010

Weird draft for EFC with the book ends great but the middle still yet to show a lot. Melbourne blew this one badly too so 1 pt for them and 5pts for us.. purely for picking the next Superstar of the comp!

2011
36. Rory Taggert (Jack Newnes, 37)

54. James Sellar (Cameron Sutcliffe, 71)

19. Ekav

Mixed bag for EFC and still early days. Melbourne had a royal shocker along with penalties. Ouch. Melbourne - 0pts, EFC -3pts

Boosted by a great F/S opportunity, EFC nailed most picks in this draft. 5 quality players gained. melbourne also got a F/S boost but the rest was mainly junk. Melb score 5 pts.. EFC score 6pts

2013
9. Christian Salem
40. Jay Kennedy-Harris
57. Jayden Hunt (Tom Langdon, 65)

26. Z Merrett
55. Fantasia

Too early to tell but EFC nailed the first two picks for sure.. Melbourne still jury out. Melbourne - 4 pts, EFC - 6 pts.

Total over the 8 year period: Melboure 17 points, EFC 40 points.

Yeah.. Melbourne suck.

How are you basing the point scoring? I don't get how we got 3 points for 2006 while Melb only got 2, despite one of those players still being on the list...

Also think you're being pretty biased towards Essendon, which I guess is to be suspected. But there's nothing to say that Fantasia was a "nailed pick" more than Salem or Kennedy-Harris.
