No Friday games 3 years in a row. Meanwhile Carlton finish a 1/2 game above us and get 6 .

Yep, its ridiculous. How are we meant to build our supporter base with no exposure.

7 of our home games are against interstate teams, how the * are we supposed to make any money.

13 games on foxtel too, who'd want to sponsor us.

I think it has something to do with each ground needing to stage a certain number of "marquee" games.

If you played Carlton against all of the interstate and lower Victorian teams at Etihad (and applied to same formula to Collingwood, Essendon etc.) then crowds at Etihad would be down and Etihad would complain that they weren't getting enough attractive matches, which would all be at the MCG.

So Etihad gets games like Carlton vs. Hawthorn/Geelong to fill the quota of "marquee" games that need to be played at Etihad, even though these games would usually attract bigger crowds at the MCG.

That's how I understand it as well. Hence why we often play Carlton and essendon at etihad
