Maybe because young aboriginal lads look up to arguably the greatest indigenous player to play the game?
And maybe they'd feel honoured to be able to wear the same guernsey as the great man?

Only listened to it didn't see it, but haven't heard of any numbers being allocated yet.

DeGoey should get 35. I presume it's pronounced 'De-Hooey' like the old Dutch Goalkeeper Ed DeGoey. If that's the case, it'll be like Vic Park in the old days whenever Pies fans say his name
