Why don't they make the rule for bad divisions if your record is under. 500 then you must go over. 500 in games outside the division to make the playoffs? Just add another wildcard team if they don't and the best wildcard team gets home game wildcard round. Thoughts?

Well the Rams did win by 30 points the one and only time they've played at Lucas Oil (they have also played us there in the preseason before and lost though).

IMO the system isn't broken so there's no need to fix it. As far as I know the only team to make the playoffs is the 7-9 Seattle Seahawks in 2010/11 and they actually won a post season game.

If you start making arguments about teams in weak division not making the playoffs, what about the divisions who played those teams 4 times? is their record going to be reduced because they had an easy ride?

No offence intended but that's a horrible idea.

Despite how terrible you and your division may be. If you win it you earn the right as division champion to host a playoff game. Regardless of the record.

For a competition where there's only half as many regular season games as there is teams the NFL Conference/Division structure is very good in creating a competition that has genuine rivalries and that has an inherent long term fairness in determining firstly who qualifies for the post season and secondly a deserved overall winner. I don't really understand why it should be changed with the only exception perhaps being that home field advantage in the wildcard round should go to the team with the best W/L record rather than automatically going to the division winner

Add one extra WC per division or have the divisional champion with the worst divisional record play the last eliminated team in the WC race.

Or just let FIFA run it and have them play a home and away series against the 5th best team in the South American Qualifying Group.

Either that or a spelling bee competition.

AFC North sets new mark with all teams three games over .500

The NFL has one of the least accomplished divisions in history this year in the NFC South, where even the 2-9 Buccaneers harbor hopes of winning a division title.

A big reason for the division’s futility has been their general inability to win games against teams from other divisions, including the AFC North. Monday night’s Ravens victory over the Saints leaves the AFC division with a 10-1-1 edge over their NFC counterparts this season, a mark that has helped the AFC North make a little history.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Baltimore’s move to a 7-4 record makes the AFC North the first division in NFL history to have all of its teams at least three games over .500 at the same time. Ravens coach John Harbaugh referenced that collective success after Monday night’s win.

“It’s big. You’re going to have to win a lot of games to win the division,” Harbaugh said in his postgame press conference. “You’re going to have win a lot of games to make the playoffs in our conference. It’s just a fact. You’re going to need every win you can get. To get this win was very big. Next week’s going to be even bigger.”

With no intra-division games on tap in Week 13 (and two games against the NFC South), everyone in the division could be four games over .500 heading into the final four weeks. That would guarantee the year would end without a losing record among the four teams, but at least one of them won’t be going to the playoffs regardless of how good everyone is when Week 17 comes to an end.
