David Galbally is Victorian though. He'd be useless given that though wouldn't he? :)
True.. he is extremely influential in the legal community and well respected by the press and by the government. And he is a Victorian.... Collingwood man. But he would make Howe worry (although maybe too late). I am sure Howe took a lot of notice when Galbally said that the players should get off and gave reasons why in the press.

The fact the last two pages have been occupied by lay people pretty much playing state of origin over computer screens pretty much underlines why clubs are unlikely to bother putting much stock in what is said here.

Or other online forums for that matter.

The bottom line is that you joined BF in Jan 2015, and have continually criticised decisions made by the club/players and AFLPA. I trust the legal professionals employed by the club. I have previously posted criticisms of the club, but I don't CATEGORICALLY state that I have the answers.

I ******* hate this join date bullshit yaco, you're better than that.

I agree MarkG is beating the NSW silk thing hard but beside that he is questioning so many bad decisions by the club that, without me knowing any better, who am i to completely disregard it?

I dont necessarily agree, i cant disprove it, but wont attack him for it. If he stops having something he believes in, based on professional relationships at that, pushed back down his throat, then he'll probably stop repeating it as a defence.

This isnt a rant at you yaco, just the join date bit was, but the fact it takes people so long to respect someone elses opinion without agreeing is one thing that is starting to s**t me. I dont want this place to turn into BB II

Good call.

Every opinion is as relevant and valid as the next, regardless of seniority.

I suppose what I would say is caution should always be had about labouring points too much.

my god, make it stop!

We don't effing care about NSW v Vic. It's a load of s**t. You're entitled to your opinion but so am I. Now stop banging on about it, we get it

For what it's worth, the High Court seems to treat NSW Court of Appeal decisions with absolute contempt, the NSWCA decisions are reversed with almost incredible regularity and have been for several years, so I'm really not sure how anyone can trumpet the supremacy of NSW silks on the grounds of geography (although I know this says more about NSWCA judges than NSW silks per se).

If I was Hird, and I could afford it, I would probably have engaged David Jackson QC (from Sydney, but originally from Qld) to run my appeal, but there's no doubt that Young and Hanks are top drawer silks as well.

We'll never know what advice Hird was given about the prospects of his appeal being successful, so it's hard to be critical of his lawyers from a distance....

We are still paying for David Evans spread your butt cheeks policy at the start of it all
I think we're paying the most for the decisions in late 2011. However I agree with you to some extent. Either playing hardball from the start, Little style, or cooperating fully to the end, Evans style, would be better than what we have now

We haven't won a flag since 2000, there has been a lot more bad decisions that ended us up here than ones in 2011 and David Evans decisions in 2013

What can be done to strengthen the players case against Howe (ASADA)?

Who would be the best in Australia to review the case? Does this review mechanism occur often in such high profile cases?

So you believe that Hirds appeal would stand a good chance of being upheld in the High Court?

Sorry Mark, but it's Friday night, I've had a bottle of red, I don't support the Bombers and I don't give free advice.:)

I haven't read the Appeal judgment, and don't really intend to, but my gut feeling is that when 4 well-regarded FC Judges have found against you, the chance of the High Court granting special leave to appeal aren't particularly good, let alone the chances of actually winning a High Court appeal.

If it were me, I'd be happy to trust the advice of Hanks, or Young, for that matter, on appeal prospects. Galbally isn't in their class, in this area at least.

I think the change in tactis was always going to be hard.

I think Littles hard style had to be run from the get go.

But, I think also Evans probably would have had it all over and done with now too, if Hird played his part and stood down.

Things from there became messy

Add to that that Kenny ruled against them too, she was an admin law specialist. Is she was in your favor, the other 2 weren't you may consider the appeal than.

Hanks to most I've talked to is the admin law go to guy in Australia, has plenty to do with constitution law. Anyone I've talked to said he is extremely well regarded in the field

I was hoping that the club may have the occasional glance on this forum.

"The Club" basically couldn't give two shits about this forum.

What if you've got someone by the name of Kerrigan on your team?

They should give us some thought seeing as though we sponsor 5 of their players.

Noticed the Richmond board have somebody from the club who is a BF member answering questions, wouldn't hurt our club to acknowledge this passionate Essendon fan base on BF.

Agreed. Having said that, I'm sure the player sponsorship side of things has run really well in the past and posters like Ben the Gooner are to thank for pioneering that. The players themselves are really appreciative I know for fact. Riding an escalator with Doss at Crown on Crichton night just gone and having Orazio spot Doss and acknowledge him from a distance told me that.

There's never been serious commitment from The Club. Maybe we should send J Rod an email.
