Ruptured achilles. Can't take a trick, like all ascendant Australian soccer players.

Just horrible.

James Troisi was good though, not good enough for Newcastle though. ;)

Booing Blatter is not smart, Australia will never win another game.

If that was the criteria every national game across the world would finish 0-0.

On the raman soccer scale, the higher the importance, the less the importance.

slightly bigger than that i think.....
Slightly ok gotcha.... I don't really mean to knock it I just don't care for the sport much, a tournament win on the international stage is an achievement well done to them.

Continental Champions - in the most populous confederation, no less - is not to be sneezed at.

On an international football scale, 6.5ish.

Yep. Also the first real piece of silverware we've snagged.

I think the significance of the achievement is lost on those who don't foow it closely, and the quality of the tournament is questioned due to an over reliance on Fifa rankings.

The loss to Italy in the 2006WC elimination final was much bigger than this, in the context of the game..... if we would have beaten Italy, we would have been ranked in at around 13th - 10th. Our next game if we would have won would have been in the last 8.

This win against Korea will lift us up couple of spots with regards to World Ranking.....

In soccer terms in quality of the tournament:

Rank 1 ... World Cup
Rank 2 ... European Cup
Rank 3 ... Copa America
Rank 4 ... Champions League
Rank 5 ... Brazilian League
Rank 6 ... Bundesliga
Rank 6 ... England | Premier League
Rank 7 ... Spain | La Liga
Rank 8 ... Italy | Serie A
Rank 9 ... Argentina | Primera Division

Daylight....

Daylight ......

Still Daylight......

Who would watch the game in the world audience? Only the soccer fanatic who lives and breath's it.........

Ah yes, you can always spot a casual when they mention the FIFA Rankings.

It's the equivalent of ranking TV quality via the Logies.

Quality or prestige? Either way this table's got problems.

The Champions League carries more weight than the Copa America for instance. And the Brazilian League as a whole wouldn't touch any of the big European leagues, which all feature the best Brazilians, etc.

Quality.....

Prestige = Money......

A Brazilian team would wipe the floor with a European team......

this is in no disrespect, but 25years playing and watching soccer.......that's how I see it....
