At least we now have a fixture, now we need a broadcast deal.
The 2015 WAFL season will commence with a full round of fixtures on the weekend of March 21, two weeks prior to the AFL season.
The draw also includes a State Game against the SANFL on May 23 and traditional West Perth v East Perth and South Fremantle v East Fremantle derbies on the WA Day weekend.
The days and times of games in each round, which may include Saturday, Sunday or weekday fixtures, will be confirmed as soon as WAFL broadcast arrangements have been finalised.
WAFC Chief Operating Officer Nick Sautner said the WAFC is continuing to work with Channel 7 on a broadcast arrangement for next season and beyond.
“With Channel 7 broadcasting the SANFL this season and beyond and also recently confirming they will broadcast the VFL next season, the WAFC is confident that the WAFL will also be broadcast by Channel 7 in 2015 and beyond,” he said.
“The 2015 WAFL fixturing process has also endeavoured to achieve a home and away flow for each club wherever possible and drawn on feedback from the 2014 WAFL fan research project.
“Another exciting change for the 2015 season will be the return to a Top 5 finals system that will create an additional round of finals and give all nine clubs extra incentive to finish the season as strongly as possible,” he said.
