Bad Beat/Vent/Brag thread

Yeah the Zoom tourney was really interesting, its a turbo tourney, but because so many players get knocked out so quick due to the amount of hands you're playing by the time you get to the final 3 tables and normal play resumes, the blinds are still relatively low compared to stack sizes and its not just a shove fest
There are some that have really good structures, have all those inbetween levels like 700/1400, 1400/2800 e.t.c that end up being like 30 - 40bb ave on the ft, the 109/30k is one of those, think they made one of the 16s like that too.

If you could teach me how to close that would be great
Well you see, during this period of not winning anything or getting close I kept a level head and didn't complain. Today was the first time I got a whine off and badabing! Victory. Seems that's the secret, also I run insanely over EV in the hots for some reason.

Just learnt that K3 ss is the new nuts ITM in the red 16. Villain 3 X it from CO with 18 BB behind, SNAPS my BB shove for half his remaining stack and he wins with K high because he ran into the lower half of my shoving range.

i bricked it this morning relatively early, flatted 9Thh pre, knew I was never going to make it out alive on Q94hh flop and didnt!

With the big Sunday Mill on I decided to play a few events.

Bricked the Storm I think 3rd hand in late registering. Raise and called off 22bb with AK against AJ and no bueno.

Played some other small events, all brick-a-roo.

In the Milli I never had above the starting stack, opened J8cc and flopped A88hh and lost to a raw flush draw, which left me short, then lost AJ vs AQ for 10bb for the rest, and then went back to bed.

According to OPR 2nd place finisher's biggest score before today was the satty entry to this event.

haha, theres on of these on every FT of these big events I reckon

A guy sitting next to me had zero mtts played lifetime

So either a bunch of ppl are creating new accounts to play, or these things really bring in new players. A bit of both obv

Would love to go through the HH of those guys to see how it played out

End of those big tournaments are always interesting to rail, probably more so then watching a hi roller FT where its all professionals - the open tournaments have such a mix of styles and complete randomness going on. I railed from about 30 players or so down.

The 2nd place finisher hit something like 3 sets in about 20 hands or so on the FT vs overpairs, had this ridiculous run getting pocket 9s and cracking queens, cracking another OP with 5s, winning a flip with 9s etc (the order of when those hands occured might be different). Got 9s again and lost a flip (or maybe vs an OP?) but at that stage had a massive stack.

Can't recall exactly but I'm pretty sure they hooded a few times in the lead up to the FT, like there'd be a raise, 3 bet and they would hood it from the BB with a hand obviously not strong to shove with, with something like 12 BB behind or whatever.

TBH I thought there was some pretty bad calls when I was railing, given the huge ICM implications, like someone would call it off for most of their stack from the BB with 18 BB from a tight button shove with KJ o (and get there) when the next payjump was $25k or whatever with much shorter stacks still in the tournament. But its very rare to find all players making optimal decisions at the end of tournaments given fatigue is a big factor and also given there are players still in it who only play occasionally. Some of those hands were fairly brutal to watch, but I guess they happen all the time in tournaments where someone makes an awful call and gets paid; I get the shits when it happens to me (though its true I've also dealt out a few) even if its out of the money, I have no idea how I would react if someone elses bad play cost me something like $25k US and the possibility of much more.

At one stage HU the 2nd place finisher had this massive chip lead, other villain was down to 10 BB or something like that, and they had them ~ 4:1, but even then you could see the other person had a chance, given they had been in that spot before and were much more credentialed. Thought the winner played it well, just limping and keeping pots small with their stack and trying to draw the other player into turn and river spots where they could make better decisions. A key hand was where the 2nd place finisher (a Greek) flopped top pair with QJ and other villain doubled through after turning two pair, after that the Greek was always going to struggle given the skill difference, even given the skill-flattening variance at that stage given both stacks were relatively short.

The chip leader into the FT had a pretty hellacious run on the FT, they had something like 130 million going into it and about a quarter of the chips in play, with the next stack maybe around 70? and with several stacks at 20-35 million, they tank called two AIs from shorties holding AQ and lost to AK both times, then lost two flips (once with 7s vs AK, can't recall the other hand exactly), 3 bet folded once or twice, and then all of a sudden were bottom in chips. That person has a great online record, and though they got in on the chop probably lost about $400k US, most of which went to the Greek who has only played online since last year and had a couple hundred $ lifetime earnings.

At the chop it was only the 1st place finisher who was grumbling about getting more $ (fairly ironic as not 20 minutes before they were almost out of the tournament and just got a good card distribution to go 2nd or 3rd in chips at the chop), FT chip-leader at the start told him to "not be greedy" and that shut him up. Once they did the chop there was obviously a scramble for chips and players got knocked out pretty quickly - is not often you see players playing a 7 man SNG with 100k up top as the sole prize.

Ended up 6th for $327.......

was sooooooo card dead in the final 2 tables..... had A10 twice for 2 shoves and folds and eventually lost running my A4 into 99 and not being able to catch up... so close to another decent score!

Found this funny too: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
