THE AFL has fined Greater Western Sydney $10,000 for failing to provide adequate paperwork to ASADA on player address details for testing.

The League’s general counsel Andrew Dillon said GWS hadn’t notified the AFL of change of address details for players as required, and had therefore been sanctioned.

"All clubs have a requirement to be fully compliant with all the paperwork requirements of the Anti-Doping Code to ensure that ASADA is fully informed at all times and can perform its duties," he said.

The Giants claim it was administrative error on their part.

Obviously an effort to hamper the drug testers' access to players.

Where there's smoke...

Kevin Sheedy lurking suspiciously in the recent history of both clubs... All the pieces are starting to fall into place.

Coach Sheedy, remember the kid who Lachlan Buszard you said you could get off APS games while he 'recovered' from his mystery 'osteitis pubis'?
He said the GWS miracle workers 'could cure him'.

If only he actually had the condition to cure.

Be interesting if this goes as a filing failure on individual player records for Whereabouts violations or does the 'It is your responsibility " not apply in this case

Under the whereabouts regime, certain teams can be designated to provide listings for their athletes. This is the sort of thing in play here, and for which the team has a corporate responsibility.

That said, if the testers arrive and the athlete is not at the place listed, it's a whereabouts violation against the individual.

The guy who was rubbed out for being in the wrong hotel room was on a list provided by, I think, Athletics Australia. Third time, severe sanction applied.

So this guy gets 18 months for incorrectly filed paperwork and the EFC players may only miss a few games.

Puts stuff into perspective.

It is based on 3 missing in actions in a 12 month period, not a single miss. Mostly about folk who go missing for a while and come back nicely refreshed, and drugs out of system.

However, micro dosing means that the athlete needs to be tested quite early in the morning before it is expelled from their systems.

There are various real time ways in which the whereabouts can be updated.
