As much as Smith has shown he can handle the captaincy part time, I agree that its too soon to give it to him on a full time basis. Clearly the best option would be to bring Bailey back into the side to replace Clarke at 4 and as Captain of the One Day side. But in truth its the one day side, we'll have 4 years to work out his replacement.


Let Clarke focus on Tests, his value is at that level fit and in form.

Agree on Bailey as captain, but not at 4. S.Marsh should be #3, Smith #4 , Maxwell at #5, Bailey at #6, M Marsh #7.
Faulkner out overrrated hack, Haddin retire replaced by Tim Payne or that Victorian whose name escapes me (not Wade).

Faulkner is one if the better death bowlers in the game
42 with the bat
31 with the ball

How many games has he finished off? Hardly benefiting from others work, cant top score often batting seven or rip through the top order bowling late

I don't think he is that good a death bowler. Marsh is just as good IMO.
'Finishing off' games, what does that mean? He scored the last few runs? He should be able to bat a bit and score 30,40,50 that is his job, batting at 6 or 7 it is his job to finish off. Not like he is Bevan or S.Waugh dragging us back from the brink of defeat.

You are either new to cricket or had a few pints
 
Faulkner can come in after 30 overs after being 6/150 and see out an innings (done it once at ODI level and a few in shield level iirc) getting us 8-9/250. He can also, come out in the 45th over and make 30 off 15. He is handy with the ball.

Marsh is more like Watson than Faulkner in terms of role within the side. He is more of a batsman who is handy with the ball. Can come in at 4-6 and explode if needed (see Adelaide Test match) or make a good, solid innings (see one of the Pakistan tests). He is a 5th bowler in a side. A handy one too.

Bailey in for Clarke, give Smith a bit more time to develop before giving him the captaincy of the ODI side.

Also, going to the game today. Super excited!
