So obviously trying to generate some discussion by having Buddy at number 1.

Other discussion points:
- Hawkins at 9 (don't mind this personally)
- Gibson>Taylor
- Judd is still in it and at 31 and ahead of Murphy and Gibbs who are clearly now better and more important than him for Carlton. For me that its laughable. It shows just how great he was that he still gets mentioned in stuff like this, his aura just hasn't worn off.
- Sandliands>Mumford>Jacobs>Goldy (seriously disagree on that)
- Bulldogs only club not represented
- 3 from GWS
- None of the following which you could make a case for: Deledio, Wells, Zorko, Hanley, Haneberry, Hartlett, Libatore, J Reiwoldt, Rance, West Coast Kennedy...
- Wider public will be confused by Ben Cunnington on there (but they'll learn), not sure whether he's ahead of Libatore though.

Overall not too bad from Robbo, beats Sheehan who last year didn't have Rockliff in his top 50...

I agree with Robbo's more than I've ever agreed with a Sheahan, though that's not necessarily a high bar to jump over. Nice to see Cunnington get some recognition, though (with a little bias) I think Harvey should be higher up and Thompson, Wells, Petrie, Thomas all more closely considered.

Franklin at no. 1 is something I don't mind - while I think most would agree Ablett is a better player, Franklin is arguably "more valuable". Plus, he has played in the last three grand finals - obviously Gary has been in a bit of a different situation lately but you can't dispute how much Franklin has achieved lately. The nagging shoulder worries factor in as well.

Judd is still Carlton's best player, neither Murphy or Gibbs have anywhere near the impact on a game that he does when fit and working.

I reckon the fan voting on the over/under rated does a pretty good job of picking the holes in it although some of them are off.

Maybe Judd and/or Bartel throw back the clock but more likely they don't feature in their own clubs top 5 B+F and therefore it's unlikely they are top 50 players. Same for Boomer Harvey, he's still one of the better high half forward flankers in the league but he's not a prime ball winner and he doesn't kick truckloads of goals.

Plenty of Essendon which is hardly a surprise.

Dangerfield is much too high. He'd be lucky to break top 15.

Priddis is only a better footballer than Jordan Lewis if you count Brownlow's instead of analysing their output.

4 ruckman is pretty generous. I'm a Goldstein fan, he's a perfectly good ruck who wins more match ups than he loses. But unless he's playing Geelong without a specialist ruckman he doesn't impact games like a top 50 player.

How he predicts Mark Murphy at 35 is beyond me. I doubt 1 in 10 Carlton fans would have Murphy over Gibbs as well as several others listed behind him.

Maybe its got to do with the fact that we subconsciously compare him with his former self but I can't remember the last time Judd dominated. Murphy plays significantly better than him consistently and has done for a while.

Libba and Hanneberry over Goddard with ease
It's what he thinks the top 50 will be after this season, so Libba misses out by default with his knee.

Macrae and Bob Muprhy are probably stiff from the dogs, that's about it.

He wouldn't be in the top 10 midfielders right now. Nick on the other hand is probably the best CHF going around in the worst side. Definitely in the top 5 fwds
No doubt Roo is an absolute star, but so is Watson. They're both around the mark.

FWIW I would have Watson as a top 5-8 mid after the clear cut top four (Gaz, Pendles, Selwood, Fyfe).

Watch Goldstein closely for a few games and you will change your mind. He doesn't jump out because he is not flashy but super consistent and never gets beaten. I never used to rate him until I was told by a Roos mate to watch him closely and with Fox IQ i did and the bloke is equal best ruck man in league.
