Collingwood’s Josh Thomas, Lachie Keeffe accept two-year bans for taking banned drug clenbuterol

No, make ridiculous and stupidly premature statements about somebody's club, and see how they react.

What, like after the club asks to be investigated, has their own internal investigation with some damning conclusions, after the league penalises them and after the investigation passes numerous hurdles along the line?

Lol why are people attacking Collingwood? We haven't even had a press conference yet. If the B sample comes back positive delist them.

We won't drag this out for 2 years that's for sure

Rivalry. And EFC haven't dragged it out 2 years. ASADA have.

With Eddie McGuire being involved with hoax calls and calling other teams cheats can anyone be surprised in some form of retribution.

And as others have mentioned the EFC case with no positive tests is different. You can't argue much against positive tests as opposed to circumstantial evidence.

The upcoming media conference will be interesting to see what is said. Heads won't be buried in the sand and if B samples are positive without proper explanation as to why (contaminated food the only plausible option you'd suspect) than that's it, Thomas and Keeffe will be delisted without further questions as they should be.

the contaminated food excuse has worked in other sports, so don't count your chickens as it were. Rogers is one of the worst dopers on the tour and he got off with the food reason since he was traveling through china.

Depends what their levels are though obviously.

how do you defend a positive test, out of interest?

Didn't a cyclist try and get away with something about eating tainted meat? I'm sure you lot would try anyway...there is no straw so slender you wont clutch it.

Head in sand if you think Demetriou and co didn't concoct the whole self reporting and governance issue.

No. Teams who have multiple players from the squad test positive can be stripped of points while players were playing. Future team bans would only take place if it was deemed team sanctioned drug use.

Which is what Essendon is facing as there is no doubt that their program was team sanctioned only doubt on whether they took banned substances.

ooh snap, in the event of positive tests we would have spent two years defending it by making up fantasies about the players have dinner at a dodgy chinese restaurant. ******* EFC supporters, is there nothing they wouldn't stoop to!!!!!!

It's only a matter of time for Carlton... throwing matches for bribes, salary cap rorting... it's in their blood, pardon the pun.

When they heard about Essendon their reaction was to go all covert and try to get in on the action.
I hope you have a good lawyer ..maybe give tanya Hird a call ..although she's been struggling a bit lately to defend anything .

On a lighter note, do today's events count as Essendon's 17th flag?

On a more serious note, I wonder if the +ve tests will lead to an investigation by the integrity unit of the entire club.

If the contaminated meat excuse is used why have only 2 players from a team training camp tested positive? They are kidding themselves if they go down that path.

Clenbuterol is a β2 agonist with some structural and pharmacological similarities to epinephrine and salbutamol, but its effects are more potent and longer-lasting as a stimulant and thermogenic drug. It causes an increase in aerobic capacity, central nervous system stimulation, blood pressure, and oxygen transportation. It increases the rate at which body fat is metabolized while increasing the body's BMR. It is commonly used for smooth muscle-relaxant properties as a bronchodilator and tocolytic.

Clenbuterol is also prescribed for treatment of horses, but equine use is usually the liquid form.

They need to find a restaurant that serves Horse meat to try that defence
