The Palestinian population in 1948 was roughly 1.3 million and has now grown to over 5.5 million - the highest it's ever been. So in reality, it is the opposite of what you are saying.

BUT, in terms of the popular understanding, and used as epithet and weapon of criticism, its palpably, manifesting wrong. the other definition refers to something like e.jerusalem, and what happens to bedouin.
