There were two types of posters. Those who said he was well in contention and actually watched the game, and the "Lol it was only the saints" crowd who clearly didn't.

Agree with Carey that he should have an Anzac medal, was clearly BOG. Take nothing away from Murphy's game but I'm still perplexed how Cripps didn't get it.

Cripps, in his second season, had 33 disposals, of which 23 were contested. The latter equalled a record by a player aged under-21 at the time of a match, joining Sam Mitchell, Tom Liberatore and Judd.

If you only read the stats you'd think it impossible for it to not be Cripps.

If you saw the games you'd think it was impossible to not be Hogan.

One player will be very good, the other a superstar.

I think it's too early to say that Hogan will be a very good player.

The weekly nomination is for best performance of the week. The yearly award is for best performer across the season. Neither is meant to be a predictor of future success.

I think Cripps was BOG however Murphy did get 24 contested possessions, 1 more than Cripps and the second most ever by a Carlton player and had a hard tag the whole game.

Not really. Each player nominated so far played an exceptional game in the week that they received their nomination.

Hogan has been good (and provided more than a few glimpses of what he's going to be) without having a real breakout performance yet. Either he'll have one soon (likely, on form) or he'll be rewarded for consistency, which usually happens a bit later on.

It's not a poor reflection on Hogan or the weekly nomination process that he hasn't received one yet, they have to reward the guys that tore it up.

I'd be extremely happy if Gibbs, Judd or Murphy got those stats. For a sixth gamer in Cripps to get those stats is incredible.

Fairly sure J2Y posted the stats that only 3 players (Judd, Mitchell, Liberatore) have gotten 23 CP's in a game before the age of 21.

Cripps was easily the standout this week. Hogan good in the wet, kept Rance honest, McCarthy good game but a benefactor from a poor Suns team who offered little.

These two should get nominated for consistency sooner than later unless the Jake Stringer/Tom Liberatore rule is applied.
