Hampton Park are struggling. As the demographics change we could well see some clubs disappear. Hills would be a chance to come in, not sure if EDFL clubs would want to transfer.

Top of the table clash this week with the Eagles hosting the Wickers.

Berwick on an 11 game winning streak, Cranbourne the last team to best them.

Is it a GF preview?

Tight game for two and half quarters, with the eagles slamming on 5 goals in the last 10 minutes of the third quarter to effectively end the contest. Holt dominant, pretty much the difference between the two sides in his 200th. The eagles firm flag favourites after that display.

No suspensions ????????
8 players and a coach all found guilty. 3 reprimands, 1 severe reprimand, 4 x $500 fines and a $2000 fine for the coach.

A HP player throws a punch and gets 4 weeks.... what a f**king joke!!

Spot on,imagine if it was Hp v doveton there would be 6 game suspensions for sure, they were just s**t scared to upset the 2 biggest clubs and now the leagues a laughing stock.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you get charged with "conduct unbecoming in that you struck and attempted to strike" instead of striking and attempted striking. But then, big clubs, finals & stars = money. Berwick & Beacy would be spewing.

A quote from the article...
“Hayden Stagg had probably worn about 10 to 15 punches to the head and if I’m guilty of pushing past to protect my players and show a duty of care, then throw the book at me.

$2000.00 it must be a good book... pffft

Punches were obviously thrown... and not a suspension to be seen.

Like the Wiggle said... If it was Hp vs Doveton 4-6 week suspensions left right and centre.

I'll say it again........ What a f**king joke!

STATEMENT BY SEFNL CHAIRMAN – KAHL HEINZE

Last night the SEFNL Board met with both the Narre Warren FNC and the Cranbourne FNC to finalise the process that arose from their round 11 game on July 4th.

With the cases having been dealt with at the tribunal and no appeals lodged to the penalties applied, there was no opportunity for the Board to apply further penalties to the registered players and officials. The Board has found that both clubs have engaged in conduct prejudicial to the interests of the League under SEFNL Rules 8.1.3 and as such has imposed the following penalties:

- $3,000 bond to be paid in full prior to the 2015 finals series, which will be held in trust until December 2017 and returned to the club should there be no repeated transgressions.
- If any team of either club behaves in a manner that is prejudicial to the interests of the League;
o They will incur a loss of 4 premiership points.
o Should a transgression occur during the finals series, the Board will disqualify the offending club and the match will be awarded to the opposing team.

The matter is now closed.

On behalf of the SEFNL Board I would like to clear up a few things:

1. No player or official was found guilty of striking. Each and every player and official was charged with "Conduct Unbecoming" as per the AFL Vic rules - and it was to this charge that guilty pleas were tendered.

2. The Investigation and subsequent tribunal process is completely independent and sits outside of the SEFNL jurisdiction. AFL South East is responsible for the appointment of the tribunal members.

3. The SEFNL Board was only able to become active in the process at the completion of the tribunal hearings and the receipt of the transcripts which was last Thursday - communications were then sent on Friday.

The SEFNL Board share the concerns raised by many of our member clubs regarding the investigation and tribunal process and as such will be voicing these concerns in writing to AFL South East.

We as the SEFNL Board acknowledge and agree that this process has gone on for too long. As with many unique occurrences during this our first season - we are discovering gaps and loopholes in the systems and procedures within which we are obliged to conduct ourselves and as such we and our member clubs are learning all the time. As a Board we take full responsibility and accountability for our actions, our mistakes, and our learnings. By adhering to our values and core behaviours, and working collaboratively with our member clubs, we as a Board and a League will continue to grow and improve.

Most promisingly, I have had discussions with each of our member clubs regarding this process and each and every club, including Narre Warren and Cranbourne, have agreed that the behaviour exhibited by those clubs during their round 11 clash was and is entirely unacceptable and won’t be tolerated in the SEFNL.

As a League we learn and grow. We, as a Board, will be consistent, transparent and accountable, and we will continue to learn and improve.

We look forward to the exciting part of the season, our finals series, and wish all participating teams the best of luck.

Warm Regards

Kahl Heinze
SEFNL Chairman

Preliminary Final results
Seniors: Berwick 14.18-102 defeated Narre Warren 13.12-90 to earn a rematch with Cranbourne in the Grand Final. A terrific match, the difference in the end being a 4 goal burst at the end of the first quarter that gave the Wicks a 28 point lead at qtr time. Narre pegged the lead back to 10 at the half but were unable to get any closer in an enthralling second half. Kerem Baskaya's 5 not enough for the Magpies, Ben Kearns & Luke Nelson bagged 3 each for the victors. Cranbourne will start red hot favourites to make amends for the last 3 season's disappointments, the Wickers looking for their first senior flag in 16 years. Berwick's captain Madi Andrews won the league Best & Fairest last night.

Reserves: Narre Warren 17.13-115 stormed into the Grand Final with a 57 point win over Cranbourne 8.10-58. After an undefeated H&A season a disappointing end for the Eagles, going out in straight sets. Narre looking for a hat-trick of reserve flags, Berwick to end their run.

U19's: Cranbourne (4.14-38) pinched a thriller from Narre Warren (5.6-36) in another close U19 final, by 2 points. They will look to avenge their second semi final defeat to Berwick next week. The Wicks looking to make a better fist of things than last years flogging at the hands of Narre Warren. It's been a very competitive finals series so far, with all bar one match decided by 10 points or less, 4 of them by 2 or less!

U18's: Berwick (15.12-102) blew Beaconsfield (5.11-41) off the park with an eight goal opening term, holding the Eagles goalless. They will take on Doveton in a rematch of the Second Semi final. It will be the fourth time the two teams meet for the season, with the Doves holding a 2-1 lead so far. should be a cracking match.

Grand Finals (Officer Recreation Reserve)
Seniors: Cranbourne v Berwick
Reserves: Berwick v Narre Warren
U19's: Berwick v Cranbourne
U18's: Doveton v Berwick

Nope, terrible setup at ROC. Berwick or Beacy should be holding the GF.

There's been a lot of work done at ROC recently, though Holm Park is the best of the current setups. I have a feeling the league was trying to ensure a neutral venue, and at the time Berwick & Beacy were both top 3.

Going to be a big weekend of footy down at ROC. Are Berwick the new powerhouse? 4 teams into the GF.

You'd think Cranbourne will be to strong for Berwick in the seniors, they've beaten them quite comfortably the last 2 times and are coming off a weeks rest. Holt is the key obviously.

In the ressies, Berwick have had Narre's measure all year, winning 3 from 3, but Narre's performance last week against Cranbourne was very good, and they'll have some handy players coming back into the side from the seniors this week.

My tips:

Senior GF: Cranbourne by 22pts
Reserves GF: Berwick by 9pts
U/19's GF: Berwick by 13pts
U/18's GF: Berwick by 24pts

Huge day of footy. Berwick going 4 from 4.

U18's by 24 points on the back of a 5 goal to 1 first half. The doves forward line failing to fire. Berwick 8.6-54 def Doveton 4.6-30.

U19's by 23 points, a cracking game of footy, Berwick's second quarter the difference. Daniel Kitto showing why he tied for the league B&F, Harrison Money & Emmet Yawney amongst the best for the victors. Berwick 14.10-94 def Cranbourne 11.5-71.

Reserves by 15 points. Another close contest, Narre's straight shooting keeping them in it to half time before Berwick took control in the 3rd quarter. 3 goals to none in the last quarter gave the Magpies some hope as the Wickers stopped however they did not have enough time to haul in the deficit. Berwick 12.11-83 def Narre Warren 10.8-68.

Seniors by 30 points. Fair to say this was the upset result of the day. After failing in three attempts during the season Berwick turned the tables on the flag fancies. Early on it looked as though the Eagles would repeat their opening of the 2nd Semi, dominating possession, Holt looking dangerous albeit not as accurate. Despite kicking into what breeze there was Cranbourne led 3 goals to 1. A red card saw a free kick directly after a Berwick goal (kick missed) and an Eagles player off, not sure who or what for. The Wicks took full advantage, clicking into gear with 4 goals in the last 8 minutes. They took a 13 point lead at quarter time.

The second quarter saw Berwick extend their lead with the first two goals, Ben Kearns and Tim Gunn both slotting their second for the game. This woke Cranbourne up, the Eagles taking complete control of the stoppages. Boland repeatedly putting the ball on the chest of his on-ballers, Fletcher & Gearon cutting the Wickers apart. Eerily similar to the 2nd Semi, the Eagles slammed on the next seven goals to lead by 15 points in the shadows of half time. Fletcher, Vella, Theodoridis getting amongst it, and ominously Holt slotting 3 on the trot, getting right on top of Jayden Joyce, much to the delight of the reserves boys standing on the wing. "Put someone on him" was an oft heard phrase. Holt took the mark of the day during this phase of play, soaring high above a pack to pull in an absolute screamer. A late goal to Ben Kearns, his third, brought the margin back to 9 points at half time.

It was all to play for in the premiership quarter. Cranbourne appeared to make a tactical change, resting Boland at the start of the quarter. The first ten minutes were a real arm wrestle, both sides struggling to hit the scoreboard, the Wickers in particular wasting several chances. Berwick scored the all important first goal, though it was quickly answered by the Eagles who extended their half time lead to an even two kicks. The tide was turning though, with Berwick taking control out of the middle and at the stoppages, generating numerous forward entries. Five goals in the last ten minutes of the quarter, the last a ripper from outside 50 from skipper Madi Andrews saw the Wicks take a 25 point lead into the final term. Crannies reserves a lot quieter at this point.

With it all to play for, Berwick scored the first goal inside two minutes, pushing the lead out past five goals. Cranbourne launched a final effort to haul the lead in however wasted several chances. A quick snap from the boundary looked to have got them back into it, however a conference between boundary, field & goal saw the kick paid a point, much to the dismay of the Cranbourne crowd. Mathew Fletcher eventually broke the drought to bring the Eagles within 4 goals with 15 minutes to play. Berwick had other ideas though, with Luke Nelson replying immediately, Mitch Johnson sealing it some five minutes later. Theodoridis kicked a consolation goal but it was too little too late. Berwick winning their first senior flag in 16 years and condemning Cranbourne to a fourth consecutive Grand Final defeat. Final Scores, Berwick 17.17-119 def Cranbourne 13.11-89. Berwick's younger legs outlasting Cranbourne's experience on a warm spring day.

Pretty good predictions too yablett!
