Today Gold Coast still had:

Prestia, Bennell, Thompson, O'Meara, Harbrow, Martin and Broughton out. For most of the season they've had more than those numbers of players out. The question is whether they can remain fit.

Gold Coast play in the most northern part of the country and in humid conditions are often playing in dewy conditions. It is no coincidence they have suffered the most injuries since been in the AFL, and the most In-Game injuries as well. Brisbane their southern neighbour don't fare that well either just to emphasize the point.

The 55 point margin is about right for them against North. This is a team that would've won last week quite easily with the same team. At half strength they nearly beat the top of the ladder team, and against the Hawks and Swans were very competitive despite despite missing about 10 or so players.

Most teams with their injury lists would be losing most games by 10+ goals every week. The Suns have now added plenty of depth by playing players they wouldn't otherwise played if they didn't have their injuries.

A bit like West Coast in recent years, the Suns if they can remain fully fit and with arguably the best player in the game, they can certainly contend for a premiership next year. All the talk that the club is irrelevant is just Victorians not understanding that there are other clubs outside of Victoria and because they've been very injured doesn't make them irrelevant.

They also have something else similar to West Coast they play their home ground very well and once up and running they will be very hard to beat at Metricon.

Another example is the the Hawks in 2009 had a lot of injuries and failed to make the finals after winning the flag the previous year, none the less, those years injured only served to make the club better with giving fringe players more game time and giving them the best depth in the league.

If the Suns can stay near full fitness with their best players expect them to at the very least make the top four but don't be surprised if they win the premiership either next year or the year after.

Yes Roby, all Victorians are missing half their brain and can't understand that an injury-depleted team is not as good as a fully fit team. Congrats for your insight.
