What now for Essendon?

No point playing for a coach who can't coach. Having said that, have to admire the players who've stayed put through the WADA case, now that's a special kind of loyalty

This is the worst, most gutless, just most pathetic effort I have seen from a team in the AFL. Watson has had one kick in this match, his 200th. The players have completely given up. 186 was against a dominant side who were on song. The Saints have been good today, but they are still the 14th placed side on the ladder.

Wont last long if they keep dishing up these types of performances, infact lose to Melbourne next week and he could be gone.

Why should he be getting until Melbourne? The simple fact is we don't know what the hell they're going to do with Hird, or what will be the straw that breaks the camel's back, because if anybody else had delivered the results he's managed as coach they would have been gone a couple of years ago.

They're not a bottom 4 side, they're the worst side in it.

Heppell, Hurley and Hooker is all they have.

Depends what WADA do with them. If they escape bans I'd say 5 years. With them, probably 10 years.
Regardless of the wada outome its clear that the cumulative effect of this ongoing saga has eaten into the club, the staff and most importantly, the players .They just look listless, without heart or endeavor. Couple that with an aging list and coach who seems out his depth then you have a recipe for few years at the bottom

Need a big rebuild starting with trading out 2 or 3 players and bring in some youth.

Look at what Collingwood did 2 or 3 years ago with Dawes and Willingham and do that with Hooker, Goddard, etc.
LoL who would give a first rounder for Goddard!?

Essendon fans deserve everything they get, they chose Hird, even though he wasn't even a qualified coach
