not Pre-season related. but ESPN have announced that Chris Berman will call the 2nd game of the Week 1 MNF Double bill, with Trent Dilfer and Lindsay Czarniak on the sideline.

I wish they went back to Brad Nessler its not like ESPN dont have great play by play callers with all the College Football they cover. Mike and Mike used to call the 2nd game when Tony Kornheiser, Jaws and Trico called the MNF games which was like 5 years ago since before Chucky was a commentator.

ESPN also will do one Saturday Wild Card game and Pro Bowl again next year.

franchises actually on the rise....versus.....franchises continuing to promise to be on the rise.....

On the rise
Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans, Raiders, Vikings, Buccaneers

Promises, promises
Bills, Jets, Browns, Texans, Chiefs, Redskins, Bears, Rams, Cardinals

Some contentious choices there.

Bottom-line, on the rise are teams specifically with a young franchise QB there, given 2-3 years to acclimate himself, a recent rookie, and have pieces of talent forming around him, ideally with a stable coaching staff, especially where the head coach is in his second stint as a HC (meaning he's learned from his mistakes the first time around, etc).

While the second group....are teams already loaded with talent, especially on defense, but are lacking that young franchise QB, or, that loaded defense is going to start getting old soon or move on to other teams and have wasted efforts trying to find that franchise QB or no matter what they do still can't get it right. Tho, if any of them do find one soon, they can suddenly be on the rise as they tick most other boxes. Example...Bills.

U-T San Diego's Kevin Acee said rookie RB Melvin Gordon is struggling with pass protection in Chargers' camp.

Most rookies struggle in pass protection, but Gordon's issues are compounded by his lack of experience as a receiver. With Danny Woodhead on the roster, there is little reason for the Chargers to put Gordon in passing situations in which he is unlikely to succeed. Gordon should get the majority of the early-down work for San Diego, but he is unlikely to be heavily involved in the passing game this season.

So it begins....the day to day news wire of serious camp injuries....

----------

Stephen Hill was carted off with a right leg injury at Panthers camp.

The early indications are it's a serious injury. Hill reportedly had a strong offseason after spending last year on the practice squad. Kelvin Benjamin, Devin Funchess, Corey Brown, Ted Ginn and Jerricho Cotchery are Carolina's top five receivers.

Lel. I have a left handed screw driver, want to contribute anything else useless?

Don't worry, this year the Raiders will suck.
Next season they will come good.
They will never get above 8-8 with JDR

Maybe if they get a new coach after a year or two they might start jumping to elite status, but not with JDR
