Whether or not that was the reason for him being told his services weren't needed we wont know. He's gone and we are better off for it.

It almost certainly wasn't the reason Cooney was moved according to some club insiders. I'm just saying that Cooney did entertain the prospect of leaving for another club at least a year before we nudged him out.

I think some on here with good connections inside the club have suggested that Cooney has not been a great influence on some of the younger players who tended to look up to him (especially Stringer and Hunter.) Cooney has never been very professional in his preparation and his attitude to training and he certainly had a poor demeanor and attitude during several club functions - like the wanna be bad boy at school who talks and cracks jokes at inappropriate times and generally acts boganish. Very much like Dane Swann at Collingwood has been prior to this season.

Thought he was better thsn previous weeks but that is tempered by his opponent being Giles.
I guess you have to take his performance with a grain of salt because of the opponent but though he was very good regardless. Some of those hit outs went straight down Wallis's throat and we were away. They def do seem to work well together- they have an understanding of each other

Bob but I'm still in shock he missed that goal from 30 metres our straight in front. I thought he was perfect :(

Gilbee still a better kick IMO.

I agree, finishing fifth, playing at home against 8th, seems better

No way Jose.

Finishing 4th with the chance to go straight in to a home prelim (or a second chance if we lose) far out weighs finishing 5th with the risk of losing and being eliminated.

Gilbee's kicking from 60 metres in the forward line. Nine point specialist.

Gilbee is/was a better kick, but I'd rather see the ball in Bob's hands.

Remember when he bagged 6 against Richmond in 2011?

My mate had been giving it to me all week, thinking they were finally going to beat us. The look on his face the next time I saw him was priceless.

Love the way Daniel kicks the ball to space inside 50. His pass to Dickson in the 3rd was excellent. Not enough of our guys do that yet. It's the next phase of development i guess.

Although we have improved in this area there is still room for further improvement.

As for CD's kicks to inside 50 he almost dictates to the forward where to go and where to be.

Daniel seems to have quite a range of kicks and handballs, and can execute them well under most situations. From long range passes to dinky chips and delicate handballs. Very talented kid and a great pickup. Very advanced for his age, experience and size....

Anyone else experiencing the issue of our game being the only one unavailable on Smart Replay?
got that as well, clearly the AFL doesn't want the nation to see us destroy them

you know when you put on a jacket you haven't worn in a while and you find a crisp green $100 note you forgot about?

That's Hunter. When he first arrived I thought he'd be something special. Now I'm sure of it.

Top 10 draft pick material
Looking at the 2102 draft, it looks like we've got 3 of the top ten (on exposed form), although that may be due to my ignorance of other teams players.
