Matt Priddis: There will be haters but haters got to hate
Mark Lecras: Supplies the forwards and kicks goals what more could you ask for
Luke Shuey: A good pass of the footy and quite pacey
Andrew Gaff: Can be tagged but when he plays his best he is as good as anyone
Elliot Yeo: Very fast and has got a great pair of hands
Scott Selwood: Not having the best of seasons but still has to make the ten
Mattew Rosa: Very courageous and effective with his disposals
Chris Masten: Gets a ton of possessions just needs to lower his eyes and learn to kick
Liam Duggan: Great prospect mark my words he will be a superstar
Dominic Sheed: Improved heaps from last year unlucky to only get a spot as a sub

It has to go on form and credentials. Yeo has played maybe 6 great games.

1. Shuey
2. Priddis
3. Gaff
4. Masten
5. Lecras
6. Yeo
7. Selwood
8. Rosa
9. Sheed
10. Duggan

Selwood wasn't always so terrible looking. Rosa has never been amazing and the bottom two don't have enough work behind them, expect them to be top four within the next three years.

1) Priddis is easily our best midfielder. Strong body and exquisite in close, an absolute animal if you simply watch him in isolation. Clean hands, impossible to tackle there basically nothing you can do to stop him winning the footy. Has learnt to play to his strengths through his use of handball is happy to accept a tackle, get his hands free and dish it off. So consistent you can bank on his 30 possessions and these days they generate a huge amount of drive because of the improvement in team structures around him.

2) Next rung - Gaff / Shuey / Yeo - unfair to seperate these guys are all playing good footy albeit with quite different styles. Gaff with his gut running and beautiful delivery has added some grunt to his footy - still huge upside. Likewise Yeo gives us a marking option through the middle, toughness and goalkicking ability -could overtake everyone.

3) Duggin/Rosa -careers going in different directions - Rosa still a good player but regressing while Duggin presents us one of the best young midfield prospect weve had on our list in a decade.

4) Sheed/Waterman young up and comers who are destined for long AFL careers. Will benefit from more game time.

5) Selwood. Its all been said before. A great competitor who leaves nothing in the bank. A great tackler. Poor disposal, poor around goals, stifles our ball movement. Unless he finds a niche position o role his presence works against us.

Time to reassess my earlier ratings:

1) Shuey
2) Gaff
3) Priddis
4) Yeo
5) Sheed
6) Le Cras
7) Masten
8) Duggan
9) Rosa
10) Selwood

Yeo is not a better player right now than Priddis and Gaff. He's had several games this year where his impact on the outcome was pretty low, whereas Priddis and Gaff have been instrumental in just about every match.

1. Priddis
2. Shuey (even though his form has been a bit disappointing lately)
3. Gaff
4. Yeo
5. LeCras
6. Masten
7. Sheed
8. Rosa
9. Selwood
10. Duggan

1. Naitanui
1. Shuey
3. Gaff
3. Yeo
5. Sheed
6. Priddis
6. Masten
9. Le Cras
9. Rosa
10. Duggan

Yep the midfield needs work. First half dozen are solid. After that though...

Our depth players are Selwood/Rosa/Hutchings.

That's not good.

We just need 1 or 2 more quality midfielders to fit into our rotation. One Selwood/Rosa/Hutchings is fine but when we get all 3 at the same time? Problems.

Exactly why if Selwood goes at the end of the year that I hope our club doesn't chase Jetta. Far too inconsistent to be the elite mid we want. Either trade for higher draft pick or give ours away plus selwood to get an established mid.

Getting an elite might be tricky with the picks we have on offer.

If we get a end of first rounder for Selwood plus our first rounder we might be able to snag someone pretty decent.

But the Bennel type is about the best we can expect.

Priddis broke into the top 10 list (in terms of 2015 season) after round 18 according to player ratings which shows what type of year he is having.

He was ranked around 40th in his brownlow year

In our best 22 we should have 7 talls , 3 med/small forwards , 3 med/small defenders and 9 midfielders/utilities
The more our medium forwards and defenders can rotate mid and our mids fwd and back the better

7 best talls
Def -Emac schofield McGovern ( fwd)
Ruck- Natanui , Sinclair (fwd)
Fwd- Kennedy darling

3 best med/small forwards
Lecras cripps hill

3 best med/small defenders
Hurn Sheppard Wellingham

9 best mids / utilities
Shuey , priddis , gaff , yeo , sheed , masten duggan rosa selwood .

If we were to upgrade hill , rosa and selwood we would be a much better team .

Newman for hill . Hopefully Newman gets an upgrade and with another preseason will offer more than hill
jetta for rosa . Upgrade especially when emac gets back and schoey/gov can play third tall defender . Jetta also doesn't kick sky balls.
Rich for selwood . Apparently rich is just going through the motions at Brisbane . Not happy getting flogged every week it looks like .

I actually really like this analysis. Its not so much about getting elite players (since they are rarely traded and extremely costly) but upgrading your worst players into decent/good players.

Hill, Rosa and Selwood are clear upgrade opportunities.

I'd take Jetta over Masten any day of the week.

Surely no chance Jetta will want to come over after the booing thing? His age might be an issue though? 27 next year.
Wow quite surprised to see Jetta is 27 next year. I remember when we were talking about his draft a few years ago. We took Sheppard in the same draft who is 2 years younger.

Sheppard might have taken a while longer to come on, but as it stands im quite happy with our selection in hindsight
