Most impressive list rejuvenation in one off-season?

Dees 2014:
Lumumba, Frost, ANB, Stretch, Brayshaw, Petracca, vandenBerg, White, Newton, OMac. All bar Petracca played at least 1 game and a few played more than 10 games.

Cost:

Dangerfield: two 1st rounders
Selwood: 1st-2nd rounder when WC match
Henderson: 1st-2nd rounder
Zac Smith: 2nd rounder

Not gonna happen.

Dangerfield: 2015 and 2016 first rounders
Selwood: Free. I'd think Geelong would walk away if WC match.
Henderson: 2nd rounder (28) plus Josh Walker
Zac Smith: 3rd rounder. Not gonna give up much more for a guy who barely got a game for an injury ravaged team that finished 16th.

I've got a sneaking (maybe a little delusional) suspicion Adelaide won't match though and we'll end up swapping our first for Carlton's second + Hendo

Cats should consider them self's lucky that Danger was born and breed in Geelong otherwise he wouldn't go near them.
Do you really think this is the smartest thing to be posting after one player was literally choosing between the cats and your team and turned your team down literally an hour before your post to choose the cats. How did that not register in your head when posting? I'm fascinated by how that missed the keeper?

You don't count draft picks. If you count draft picks then Ablett, Bartel, Johnson and Kelly wins every time.

Kind of puts posts like this in perspective:

Is this a pisstake? Have you really read through some of the other posts in this thread and thought 'yep our 2014 off season is as good as that if not better'? :drunk:

The question the OP asks is about impressive list rejuvenation in a single offseason. Finding ten players who all contribute at senior level leading to almost doubling the win total when coming off the low base that Melbourne had is significant. Grabbing 5 legends in the same offseason is great but how many of them helped immediately led to a 3-win improvement the following year?

Carlton in the last few years:

OUT: Kennedy, Waite, Garlett, Betts, other players who can kick goals

IN: Dale Thomas

We win.
Don't forget losing one of the best ruckmen in the game! Sauce.

Haha this is unreal.

Ok using your logic, I think I've found the greatest list rejuvenation of all time, Melbourne 2009:
In: Scully, Trengove, Joel MacDonald, Jizzberts, Tapscott, Gawn, some other spuds. Result: a Huge 4.5 win increase!!!

Can anyone else with their multiple All Australians or their triple premiership players beat that? Didn't think so /thread.

At the conclusion of 1985 Swans were 3rd last on the ladder.
1986 Sydney Swans first got Geelong coach Tom Hafey.
Then raided Geelong list of Greg Williams, Bernard Toohey and David Bolton
Champion centreman, classy half backer and pacy winger type.
They then got classy Essendon midfielder Merv Neagle (loved watching this guy play) and Gerard Healy off Melbourne. Healy a few years earlier kicked 77 goals as a forward but by this stage was a ruck rover type. Great long kick.
They also snared quality player from Bulldogs Jim Edmond, Paul Morwood from Saints and ruckman Glenn Coleman from Fitzroy.
At the end of home and away rounds of 1986 they were second on the ladder.
Greg Williams won his first Brownlow that year.
Greg Williams and Gerard Healy were devastating as a duo from centre for Swans.

There will never be an off season of player movements like there was from 1985 to 1986.
Truly was incredible.
In 1987 Swans at one stage had three matches in a row they scored 30 goals or more. Cannot see that ever happening again.
Had Rioli, too, until the salary cap got in the way.

A bit off topic but I thought we did this in 1992. A check of the stats says 'close but no cigar'.

37.17 vs. Brisbane
32.18 vs. Adelaide
28.13 vs. Essendon

We should have won that flag but the Eagles shut us down. Bloody Matera!

Hawthorn in 2009

IN
Shaun Burgoyne (Port Adelaide)
Josh Gibson (North Melbourne)
Ben Stratton (National draft, pick 46) (WAFL)
Taylor Duryea (National draft, pick 69)
Luke Breust (2009 rookie draft, pick 47)

OUT:

Josh Kennedy (Sydney)
Ben McGlynn (Sydney)
Stewart Dew (retired)
Trent Croad (retired)
Mark Williams (Essendon)

I'll raise that;

Hawthorn in 2012 - in. Lake ;)
