After they replayed the Matthews interview, Pickering (on SEN) brought up Redden as an example of Brisbane contradicting themselves in regards to Aish. Hutchinson shut him down saying that as Lethal alluded to, Redden has given us more than 4 years.

Pickering saying nothing new, Aish wants to play in Melbourne and Collingwood, Brisbane and Collingwood 'need' to work a trade out etc.

Refusing to consider a trade is not an illegal restraint of trade. There is nothing which requires anything of the Lions in this situation.

However, the entire system of player drafting and movement is potentially a restraint of trade. That's what Pickering would have to challenge. Take away the draft and trade systems (as flawed as it is) and you take away the ability of probably 10 clubs to survive. Take away 10 clubs and you take away the billions of dollars of media investment. Take away the billions of dollars and Eddie will be selling his arse on a highway to raise money for your mob.

This is absolute gibberish. Aish is contracted to the Lions until October 31. After that, his contract expires and he is completely free to pursue any opportunity within the mechanisms of the competition, which at that point is the national and pre-season drafts.

Brisbane have invested in Aish and as such should be able to determine the best possible outcome, long term for the Club. If that means making an example of a petulant kid then so be it. Because he has a job opportunity at another club that Brisbane is blocking while he is out of contract. It is pretty simple the draft like the zones before them are also a restraint of trade issue. The NRL through legal challenges got ride of the draft in the game

We're not blocking him from getting to another club. There are two mechanisms for him to try and get to Collingwood.
