Fremantle's first and second picks would have been reasonable. Probably still unders, but reasonable under the circumstances. How the hell did the Suns get bullied into ponying up pick 22 as well?

It's a steal if it's based purely on talent alone, but in Bennell's case there is a big risk taken on by Freo due to his off-field behaviour.

Sure, they sacked him. And that was dumb of them.
But Freo's first and second picks would still have been about right, given they're so late in the order. They really didn't need to include pick 22. That's a good, old-fashioned fleecing.
The risk is neither here nor there. Fremantle have willingly accepted it so can't therefore expect a major discount.
He just didn't want to play for Richmond, christ he's only human.
