Thanks scoop.
Sad thing is that flog gets paid for that, nothing that hasnt been said before...most people on this board could write something of at least the same standard, probably better... in fact they do regularly. Nothing more than a space filler article.

It's a nothing article, to make the AFL appear to be doing something. Clubs have such a huge range on their ratings of players that it's impossible to determine whether a slide is due to deals/goodwill or due to their actual ratings.

I know this isn't directly Giants news but this article really pissed me off!

So the AFL will go out of its way to embarrass some young kid who is chosen at say, 5, and say - you're not worth pick 5, Hopper/Mills should have been picked there. You are only a 7-8 pick.

What a disgusting thing to do to a young kid, who has just been chosen by an AFL club.

How are they going to prove it anyway - Essendon can say, yeah, Hopper is a good player but we wanted X, who we think fits our program better. Why should a club be forced to pick a kid it
a) doesn't necessarily want
b) knows it's not going to get anyway
Just because someone at some other club (Eddie) thinks they should.

Every year players get picked at numbers that surprise others - sometimes they slide (Goddard last year) sometimes they go higher (Plowman for us) and other are scratching their heads wondering why.

Even "Best Available" is a subjective debateable opinion.
So you rate player X, we don't.

Absolute garbage.

Bet you Richmond wish the AFL stepped in and made them re-evaluate Tambling over Franklin...

And that's exactly why it's all just blowing smoke. :D

The same ****** who destroyed the storm with the salary cap scandal and the bloke who left the saints in their condition.

“You can’t compare GWS or Gold Coast to Brisbane or Sydney in capital cities. They’re centrally located, everyone goes to the games and they’re heartbeat of the economic climate,” he said.

I don't think he understands that GWS is actually centrally located in Sydney.

Weird considering he was boss of a sporting team thats competition is based here.

Waldron knows all about how to run a successful club and company so of course he is right about this as well

Was trying to read his statements with an open mind.I just couldn't think of 1 reason why his opinion is relevant .Anyone else think of a reason. Ex Storm boss disgraced or not doesnt cut it for me.

Has stuffed everything he has been involved with. Most irrelevant person to make a comment about the Giants possible once again proving how bad the media is......we all deserve better

A reasonable article in the Hun about Leon's overseas study trip. I like the fact that he's not just focussed on the footy aspects, but wants to build a full-rounded player - hopefully that will make GWS a club that wins because it's got great programs across all aspects and builds a great culture and therefore makes GWS a desirable club to join.

Leon Cameron to build more than just footy talent in GWS players after study trip to Stanford University

Leon Cameron says his club is looking to build more than just football talent in its players.

The Giants coach found the perfect model for his idea when he spent four days last month at Stanford University.

The Californian college has a prestigious sporting program, however, educational achievement is ranked higher than athletic prowess.

“It’s not just about looking at Stanford’s football program, it’s also about how they recruit students to get from high school to university,” Cameron told The Daily Telegraph.

Some news on GWS Academy players; prospects for the 2016 draft. The names we've been seeing for the past year, so no surprises.

Academy talent pool out to impress at AFL clubs

RECRUITERS will get a closer look at next year's talent pool from Monday when the NAB AFL Academy squad members start two-week training stints at AFL clubs across the country. The club placements have been an integral part of the academy's program and this year take on a new twist, with prospects to spend two weeks at a club training and being immersed in an AFL environment. Last year's academy group trained at two separate clubs for a week each time, with this year's plan for them to spend more time at one club to fully integrate into the AFL program.

Greater Western Sydney and West Coast will host the most players across the fortnight, with both clubs having four members of the academy train there.

The Giants, fresh from selecting four zone academy prospects at last month's NAB AFL Draft, have another impressive batch of New South Wales/ACT talent coming through, including highly-rated tall Harrison Macreadie.
