Saw it on the weekend and really enjoyed it. The opening sequence
with the day of the dead festival
was incredible IMO. Have really enjoyed the visual settings of the Craig Bond films and this was no exception.

Villains kind of felt sub par to Skyfall and wasn't a big fan of the choice of song for the opening (though the visuals that accompanied it made it better).

Overall was really enjoyable and will be interesting to see where they go from here.

IIRC Craig is still contracted for 1 more Bond film and despite him saying he'd hate to do another one, I have a feeling he might still do one last hurrah (after he's taken a break, refreshed the batteries and hopefully got assurances they won't have script/filming issues like they did in Spectre).

If they go with a new Bond, I'd love to see Idris Elba - he'd be the best of the names being thrown around IMO. Big fans of Cavill and Hardy too but not sure I'd like to see either of them as Bond personally.

Tom Hardy should be the next James Bond.

I get the feeling Hardy would hate the idea of being Bond. The character seems a bit shallow for his tastes.

Is Bond (Craig's version) really that shallow compared to, say, Bane?

I think Hardy would make a better villain.

It's easier to handle a shallow character for one film than for a series of films.

Plus I'd argue there's a hell of a lot more depth to Bane. Even if it wasn't all in the film, Nolan would've established a lot of backstory and character.

Sheesh, being James Bond is a cinematic honour, it's great that actors want to have some personal integrity, but if you love what you do and the industry you work in, any actor would jump at the chance to be Bond!

Craig is over it? Well, such a shame it has held up your career and prevented you from making other movies in that... hang on.

Hardy complains about the character, yet he was the least impressive Mad Max? Which literally could've been Joe Blow and the post apocalyptic car chase, but Bond is a no no?

Tom Hardy says that if he was given the chance to be the next James Bond he would “smash it out of the park”.

“I would love to do it,” he said. “Who wouldn’t? If I did get the chance, I would smash it out the park.”

McNulty needs to be the next Bond imo. Might be a bit old though although there is precedent. At the moment nobody plays the womanizing, drunken maniac better than Dominic West.

West would be good IMO. Even though he's already 46.

Wouldn't be against picking a young upcoming actor this time around that not many have heard of.
They always do. Or at least, they never go with an established leading man. Moore, Dalton and Brosnan were all mostly known for their TV and theatre work prior to getting the Bond role. Even Craig's biggest leading role was Layer Cake, which was hardly a blockbuster.

I always shake my head when I see these discussions of which Hollywood star should be the next Bond. The series has never needed or wanted a name actor, because it's the character who sells the movie. They will go with someone who has the runs on the board in terms of acting credentials, but obscure enough that they can sign him to a multi-film deal at a good price.

You want a young, ruggedly handsome, WHITE, Brit to carry the role for the next decade or two... I give you Matthew Lewis aka Neville ******* Longbottom! Has plenty of acting experience, looks the part and is only 26 so has plenty of time to grow into the role.

Too young.

I think his age could work.

You could develop the character by showing alot more of his beginnings. Show just how hard it is for a young man to convince himself it's ok to gun down an un-armed person because their file says you have to. Could do a whole PTSD thing, really work on the psychology it would take to become a stone cold killer.

It could, but they kind of already did that in Casino Royale.

That's utterly gloomy and depressing, which is the complete opposite of what makes James Bond popular.

Anyway, they already did the young James Bond thing.
