These are the proposed league compositions for Season 2017.

A number of clubs will feel aggrieved, although the Gippsland, Mid Gippsland and North Gippsland Leagues will all remain unchanged. A new league has been formed in the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition.

The clubs on the move, should the proposal go ahead are as follows:

Nyora will feel shafted and it will be all uphill in the Alberton FNL, although less travel might help alleviate any issues.

Nyora is not the only EDFNL club on the move with Bunyip, Cora Lynn, Garfield, Koo Wee Rup and Nar Nar Goon moving to the newly formed West Gippsland FNC.

And they will be joined in the newly formed league by Dalyston, Kilcunda Bass, Korumburra Bena and Phillip Island from the Alberton FNL.

Warragul Industrials may feel like they have been left with the weaklings of the competition by remaining in the new 9-Club EDFNL.

One would think the Alberton FNL will be a lot more even than previous years with most clubs backing themselves to have a tilt at it in 2017.

Warragul and Drouin may also be thinking they drew the short straw by remaining in the Gippsland League as rumors abound that they may have wanted out.

This is not set in stone and appeals are open until March 11.

Don't think this would be any good for gippsland footy at all the standard will drop horrendously.. The crowds won't be big, everything will be a losing situation.

Just to put things into context standard wise, here are the ladder positions of the clubs after the home & away seasons in 2015.

Alberton Football Netball League

Haven't heard to much in recruiting terms. Did anyone see the leaked league reform for Gippsland region? Creating a new WGFL (West Gippsland League) with Killy-Bass, PI, Dalyston, Cora Lynn, Garfield, Bunyip, Koo Wee Rup ect. Alberton will have the same however adding Nora (big question mark here) with Korumburra being shifted. All in all, its a big shake up through Gippsland and it will be interesting to see how it will go.
 
Is the current success of Dalyston and Killy Bass sustainable? Or are they smaller towns temporarily batting above their average?

The position of Nyora in Alberton is ridiculous. The town sits on Lang-Lang - Poowong Road (that's the VicRoads name for it) and won't be in the same league as either Lang Lang or Poowong, it's two closest rivals (closely followed by Catani).

The new nearest opponents will be 50 km away in Inverloch or Meeniyan. They won't get any away fans coming to matches and will find it harder to recruit with an extra 50km added to anyone coming from Cranbourne or Pakenham.

Shift Nyora to the Ellinbank league and it eliminates the bye in two competitions.

This arrangement looks like they value an even number of teams (9) per comp ahead of common sense.

If the league insisted on that arrangement, Nyora should shift to the Ammos.
 
Probably needs to be done, especially considering the gap between the eastern and western ends of Alberton, particularly in regards to junior football. Fish Creek will have a field day in the new Alberton comp if it stays that way.

Don't think it will end up exactly as they have planned it there, Nyora in particular would not last long at all with the floggings + extra travel. Think they will stay in Alberton. I'd also say Inverloch would seem more likely to go West, Yarram may think about coming back in now that all the strong teams have been kicked out?

Overall it is probably a good idea, still needs some tweaks. 10 team comp would be ideal, play everyone twice
 
Killy Bass seem to have enough money to keep it going, also have pretty good junior numbers from what I know. Dalyston I would have more confidence in, essentially get Wonthaggi players who don't want to travel, strong juniors due mainly to this over the past 5-6 years and they have kept them around
 
Yep, it's happening. I would imagine that Nyora and IK will lodge appeals, how successful they will be is another matter.

Well in west gippsland league or any other teams in other leagues if they have same colours as what would be the go there cause phillip island and bunyip are both bulldogs colours

Yarram wouldn't want to go back to Alberton, and I'm not sure what Morwell East would be doing in North Gippy.

Also, today's South Gippsland Sentinel-Times is reporting that Wonthaggi are interested in joining the West Gippy comp.
 
I reckon move Wonthaggi into West Gippsland to give their juniors a fair crack and to be honest footy has came along way since their dominant period in the AFNL. IKFC are lodging an appeal due to lack of competition in the AFNL and Nyora will due to their ridiculous resettlement. Put IKFC in West Gippsland and make it a strong 10 team comp.

The WGFL could be a really strong comp by adding IK and Wonthaggi Power. IK needs to move out of Alberton to lack of depth and WPFC are looking to leave Gippsland League amidst some horrendous results from juniors (there fourths didn't have a team in 2015 and hadn't won a game in four years prior to folding).The MGFL and NGFL will remain the same and Nyora will move back into the EDFNL to add fairness and keep competition. By moving Korumburra back into the AFNL it reduces travel time and will be beneficial for them as a change from the AFNL will not be taken well. Other than that, it looks like it could run fairly well with two 10 team comps (Ellinbank and West Gippy). Only problem is the weakening of the Gippsland league. Any suggestions?

Morwell East not for north gippy mate, They belong in Mid Gippy.
