WHEN it comes to quoting television shows, The Simpsons has long been a fan favourite.

This is why a new search engine has been created to match up quotes from The Simpsons with their corresponding still frames.

The search engine, known as Frinkiac, was aptly named after everyone’s favourite four-fingered scientist Professor Fink.

Responsible for the extensive search engine are friends Sean Schulte, Paul Kehrer and Allie Young.

“We had the idea several years ago when we were quoting The Simpsons at each other all day long, and it was surprisingly difficult to find an image of the scenes we were quoting on Google,” Mr Schulte told Wired.

“The majority of the code was written in about a week, to parse the video files and upload them to the server and index them and search them.”

To match screenshots with the quotes, Frinkiac analyses subtitle files and then lines up time codes between words and images.

Once users discover the quote and screenshot they were chasing, they are given the option to create it into a meme, which can be saved and shared on social media.

Unfortunately, the search engine only covers seasons one to 15 at present, but its creators hope to add more at a later date.

In the meantime, enjoy these beauties.

Great episode.

Marty: Doing "The Monster Mash" for you on this beautiful Valentines Day!
Bill: Marty, why did you play that song today? There must be thousands of love songs.
Marty: Well, it's kind of a love song. All the monsters enjoying each others company, dancing, holding their evil in check.
Bill: You played the wrong record didn't you?
Marty: ...Why are you doing this to me?
