Plan?

You've invested a quarter of your stack, and have three players to act behind you. Very scary.
Nobody would believe you'd have a two from your early position, so you could very well get pushed off your bet.

I would check/fold.

With the size of those calls on the flop. you're almost guaranteed somebody has a big hand.
Hitting your flush could spell disaster for you, with a full house out there.

Get away from this one, and pick a better spot.

Looking forward to seeing how it turned out!

I check/fold to the bet as the blind could have a 2 or a house and i am drawing thin. Bigfish was an Aussie who was uber aggressive and could have any combo of cards, including a 2. One of the worst i have seen. But he was running like god and hitting everything. he even called an all in for 20 bigs with 4 w off vs AK and hit a 4 on river..... he built up a stack to a top 3 stack just before we hit the cash and was playing every hand. Once we cashed he got picked off and was down to 3 bigs when i got KO'd

Was a terrible player who got "lucky" to make it as far as he did

Good food in the end I reckon. I don't play much anymore but alarm bells were going off in my head as soon as you got 3 other callers on the flop. Check-fold the turn is the right strategy, especially once the board pairs on the turn. There simply isn't much that you can beat.

I'm lucky the 2 came on the turn. Anything other than an ace or club and i was in big strife! Hard to get away from, but happy how i played it in the end

This sums up my day at the cash tables perfectly, the biggest donks winning the biggest pots from me, campaigners calling 3 bets with j5 and running like god.

So down in Melb during the week and played a bit of cash at Crown, seemed like a pretty brutal night with the cards to me but going to post some hands to gauge a wider reaction.

Hand 1:
3rd hand in I get AQ suited on the button, about 6 people limp in, I raise to 4xBB, about 4 callers.
Flop: AAx, two diamonds. Gets checked around, I bet about 2/3 pot, one caller.
Turn: blank, he checks, I bet around 1/2 the pot, he calls.
River: something-diamond, he checks. I put him on a full draw so I check behind. He shows the flush.

I'm thinking I made a few mistakes here, probably should have bet more on the turn being the biggest. I guess at least I probably lost the min with top set.

Hand 2:
I have AA, there's about 5 limpers and I raise to 10x BB in late position. They all call.
Flop: Rainbow 10 J Q. Not the best flop with Aces but it gets checked around to me so I go all in with about 15 BBs to put anyone off draws. One guy calls.
Turn: Blank
River: J

Villain flips J4 showing a set. Anything I could have done differently here?

Hand 3:
I have KK, one guy in early position goes all in for about 12BB, one caller. I'm in late position and I go all in over the top with about 40BB which would put the caller all in, he calls.
it's AQ vs 99 vs KK
AQ flops two pair, I win the side pot.

Hand 4:
I have AA again in late position, guy open raises to about 12x BB, one or two callers, I go all in for about 40x BB again. Opener calls, we have about even stacks.
He flips over J8 and then turns a full house.

It was just a frustrating night for me as these were really the only hands I played all night, as I was waiting for good spots. I felt like I got my money in really good positions and got sucked out on fairly badly. I mean copping one or two of these and yeah it's not that bad but after the 4th one fair to say I was tilting pretty badly.

THoughs?

First off you had trips not a set lol. It's not too bad a play, you made him pay to get the flush while being ahead so that's a good thing, could have made him pay more perhaps but doesn't sound like he was going anywhere anyway. Good check on river coz nothing is calling you that you have bet except maybe weaker ace....

Hand 2:
I have AA, there's about 5 limpers and I raise to 10x BB in late position. They all call.
Flop: Rainbow 10 J Q. Not the best flop with Aces but it gets checked around to me so I go all in with about 15 BBs to put anyone off draws. One guy calls.

Not really if you're raising it 10X and getting everyone calling it's not the best cash table to be on lol. You got very unlucky on the river so not much you can do. Perhaps a case of not having enough money behind you which unfortauntely I have found in cash table poker can hurt because those with plenty will just call regardless.

Hand 3:
I have KK, one guy in early position goes all in for about 12BB, one caller. I'm in late position and I go all in over the top with about 40BB which would put the caller all in, he calls.
it's AQ vs 99 vs KK
AQ flops two pair, I win the side pot.

Plays itself, you could flat and see ace high flop and run but that's not a great thing to be doing all the time especially in cash poker.
Hand 4:
I have AA again in late position, guy open raises to about 12x BB, one or two callers, I go all in for about 40x BB again. Opener calls, we have about even stacks.

Replied to first 3 the last one is just stupid from J8. I will say though you sound like me after a few bad experiences playing tight and getting it in good at the Cas but you have to know that it's not really going to be great quality poker and these people have money they apparently don't want lol. It's also not aces and kings that you win the massive pots with and must re assess at every street....

Unlucky though mate I wouldn't let it put you off, maybe just look at the context a bit more.

Seriously thought it's not the best play but he does have every right to flat you from button and see what you do post flop. Not going anywhere after he flops trips obviously so...

Calling 3 bets in position are fine, seriously tho, i slow down if the K doesnt come on the turn, but it of course does, and then for him to spike the one outer on the river, it was perfect storm kinda s**t that run out.

We didnt get it until after river, absolutely brutal hand, one of the worst ive been involved in from a cash game perspective.

FT of the $2.20 PSKO. over 3000 runners. Get AA. Wont hold. Out in 8th

*. *. *. *

Triple up would have been grand. As would the money up the pay ladder..... so ******* depressing to get so far.....and return so little compared to the top. Getting it in with a s**t hand, at least it would be "easier" to deal with. AA losing on FT sucks. But we all knew that anyway!

Prog bounty tourney's, where people lose their brain. Of course its the "right fold" in a vacuum but table dynamic leading up to this plays a big part in whether its a profitable call or not.

I call super light in some of these tourney's quite a bit, so many fish trying to get their hands on some money before they bust.

Turn:

River:

King D

Him: Nut Flush
Me: Boat

The thing was, I wasn't paying full attention and picked up on the fact I hit a boat.. As when the three 10's came out I picked him on trip 10.. and I was preoccupied.

Anyway, they were estatic to knock me out in the 5th round seeing as I'd won 6 of the last 7 cash games.. All the taunting and banter that came along with it, then I picked it.. I actually had the boat and he had the nut flush.. Needless to say, the host (Who was player 5) Was pissssed, pushed his chip stack over threw the cards and went outside to have a smoke... Felt good man.. Even better is he rates himself as a 'Top poker player' who has 'won online tournaments so we shouldn't be a worry'.

Best part was, I won that game too... So all that taunting came back in drobes.

1st Place: $750

You played it fine.

Loved the smack talk too. Shame you ran into KK in the end. I was working from home today, so just railed you and a few pros in SCOOP as a spectator

Haha yeah, he wouldnt give me much to work with though unfortunately so the talk was fairly basic but still always like to say some stuff on FT's

Bustout hand was annoying, that was the first hand I decided to take the open shove line after limping all of those hands thus far and he just wakes up with the cowboys

FT seemed pretty ABC from my point of view. Is this perception correct?

Wasn't too deep either (was this due to overwhelming chip leader or structure?) So lots of open shoves/fold or calls

A4 vs AQ was pretty handy for you :thumbsu: nice time to do it too
