the north melbourne football club wants to set up an academy in the state of Tasmania much similar to That of GWS, Sydney, GC and Brisbane.

What are your thoughts? Are/should they be entitled or allowed to set this up and have first access to Tasmanian talent?

Tasmania is a football state. North Melbourne aren't going to be giving more than they get by having an academy there. Population is the thing restricting the number of Tasmanians being drafted to AFL, not junior development.

And if any club was to be given the rights to an academy in Tasmania it should be Hawthorn given the length of time we've spent investing in that relationship with Tasmania.

That said, I'm not arguing for it. Hawthorn (or any club for that matter) having an academy down there is an unfair advantage. It's bad enough the northern state clubs get the concession to take star kids like Mills and Heeney.

Just give Tassie a team already. Hobart, launceston, whatever. ******* AFL making them jump through bullshit hoops all the damn time. Theyve been patient. Theyve played your games AFL and have got consistently good numbers through the gates. How many more years are you gonna tease them before you give up the goods?

Enough is enough.
