This inability to debut any player whatsoever (in what is clearly still a year where we should be nurturing young talent) might be the the single most annoying thing I’ve seen from this club in a few years
And that’s saying a lot
I know Pedlar had the highest clearance-winning % of any of our players last year, but I’m still yet to be convinced he’ll develop his tank enough to get consistent touches through the middle. Not grouping him with Rankine/Rachele/Soligo just yet
Id love to see him become as prolific and damaging as a Zach Merrett (if we’re thinking of similar-ish players at similar stature), but that is setting extra high expectations
Rated 8th best kick in the comp this year?
Hinge was great against the Blues (not so much for the rest of this season), but I now remember why I don’t pay attention to Hoyne’s stuff
And an injury to Thilthorpe has shown we are deficient in key forwards (Burgess/Gollant)
If you’re not happy with Butts/Borlase, then bring in better depth
Fair enough (don’t agree fully, but I see the vision as his intercept numbers seem to be currently down on previously, I think they’ll improve), but that leaves the 3rd tall slot vacant
It’s Murray and Keane that will be holding down FB and CHB, respectively
Need to get our ‘next gen’ mid brigade all at the club by next year
I’d suggest that includes Soligo, Rankine, Rachele, Edwards (he’s shown enough base traits to make me confident) and whoever we take with our first this off-season
Berry a possibility too, and Curtin the wildcard
Yeah Cumming would be my preference, would also provide some speed which Daniel doesn’t really have
That said, I wouldn’t be against going after both, particularly if WB are paying part of Daniel’s salary
Definitely has some nice goal sense for an inside mid, far better than Laird/Crouch in that regard
Keen to see how much he accumulates in a primary inside mid role next week, without Crouch in the side. Would like to see him be a bit cleaner with ball take than his last full game, as well
Butts would surely get destroyed by the more mobile 3rd talls
Murray for Butts seems like the obvious answer, Murray is just straight up better as a 1v1 defender and generally gives more confidence with ball in hand
Lot of people asking the question whether we should throw the game/rest AD against the Pels, on social media
I think it'd be ludicrous honestly, considering we'd probably be facing the Kings (just as much of a bogey team) in the second play-in game
Don’t necessarily agree with this (think he can play a role in a good side with good coaching), but it’s risky giving a three year deal to a role player, particularly if it takes them to when they hit 30
Three years is probably one too many, but he’s likely a best 22 forward for us for a little while yet (as long as we put many good ball users around him)
