It was a free. The high contact was there.
It shouldn't have been a free. The infringing player had no realistic option.

Good and bad.
The pub I'm at needed to be talked into showing this game one one of their 10(?) Screens.
Really hot barmaid thinks I'm interesting for following the suns...If only I was 10-20 years younger.
Oh, and the game is close ;)

Wierd game.
I'd say Richmond was the better team, but apart from the 2nd qtr, the dogs outplayed them. Weather was a factor. Dry track might well have changed the result.
Dogs would be very happy with this result. Tiges would be kicking themselves. 8 pt game.

Just a quick return to BF to wish Bullies and demons fans a great day. As a Richmond fan, I have an idea how you both must feel.
For the winners, enjoy yourself, and ignore the jealous sniping that is bound to follow.
For the losers, be proud you made it this far, and have how that with a...
If Clarkson isn't keen to get back into a head coaching job, then I wonder if he'd be interested in Balme's job...Managing, mentoring, guiding, and perhaps even a little 'coaching' (but technically an admin role, and thus outside the soft cap).
nb. I wouldn't be suggesting this if Balme...
Will and should are different questions.
As it stands, it's part of the AFL's long term push to grow the game in the northern states, and seems to be having some success at encouraging development in junior/grass roots levels.
So long as they can keep doing that, the AFL will keep the money...
What a new and original thread topic.
It seems unlikely, Covid will have been the final straw for this timeframe. The finances of the league/other clubs/governments will be shaky enough that they wont want to make significant new commitments.
Also, every delay makes the prospect of there ever...
As I've said several times.
F1 GP, and current AFL games in Tas, the deal is simple...you pay, the deal/event continues and the state/government gets the benefits (tourism, profile, etc). Stop paying, and no more games/GP.
Add a permanent Tas team, and that situation ends. If you stop...
Think it was 8th...but yeah, they do try to allow for the importance of a player, and how much of a downgrade his replacement is.
Mind you, CD tend to under rate our players generally as they don't rack up/pad the stats, so they still probably under rate the effect of our injuries.
define 'lots more eyes'.
Will it add 1/19th more viewers, particularly NEW viewers? (which is what would be required to get a commensurate increase in TV rights revenue).
A *NEW* club must bring something to the table, be it financial, or potential for long term growth.
Existing clubs are judged on completely different criteria...In no small part because, as discussed, they're EXTREMELY hard to expel from the league. This difficulty in expelling clubs should be...
In those renegotiations, what incentive would the Tas government have to maintain, let alone increase spending?
They get what they want (tourism, etc) simply from a club existing, so their best interests would be to spend as little as possible. (yes, less might lose votes, but perhaps the money...
For that model to work for Tas, the team there would need to make substantial profits. The very fact that the state government needs to pour millions into it to achieve basic viability suggests that's not likely.
Vic puts money into things that could be taken away from it. No money for an...
What they say is one thing...
Knowing that a Tas team would be used as blackmail forever (if you don't give us another $100M, we'll cut funding from the football team and say it was due to your cuts...) isn't going to encourage the feds to be generous.
Why do they 'have to'/'need to' do these...
Sure, they wont cut them off entirely....but what happens when they cut a small part part of the previous year's sum...or just stop increasing it in line with how other AFL club's spending is rising? When 25% of required funding drops to 20%, or 15...or they refuse to chip in for new facilities...
