I don't think the coaches in the last 6 years have ****ed up no. Going back there's been a sprinkling but a very small percentage to how many move through our lists and how many posters complain about not getting enough opportunities, and I still don't think they've got Sturt wrong.
I agree after last week's game that he's holding his spot and have said that in my posts, I was challenged on my comment that he's in a fortunate situation and I now agree and admit I ****ed up, used the wrong term and was relying on my dodgy memory. Only Freddy was out from the forward line.
How many though? Matt de Boer, Collins. Any others? Any since Lyon left? 2 players in 10 years compared to all that Big footy gun for to get more games? Crowden was apparently our missing link at one point on here according to many. Western was delisted too early and should've got more games...
Hang on, where have I said he's never deserved his opportunities???? Don't make s**t up. I actually said that he's been given the opportunities that he's deserved. The discussion is around the latest opportunity that he got, and the fact is he came into the side when 3 or 4 (or maybe even 5)...
Then you're clearly very clever, or perhaps your lack of knowledge (your admission) meant there was information that the coach knew about but you were oblivious to? It was one situation. If he gets it right he's a legend but it didn't work out. How many times have you got it wrong when the coach...
Agree that they're not perfect but I'm betting my bottom dollar that they get it right far, far more than a bunch of scrubbers on Big footy like us. And know much, much more about the situation and have the ability to do what we hypothesize on here about as a profession. I mean it isn't even close.
You agree that Sturt isn't in the first picked and is behind others. Surely that means he's relying on the misfortune of others in front of him to get a go. And that's exactly what happened a few weeks ago. I'm really not sure how you can not see it as fortunate.
Re the grumpy comment, what...
Getting a proper run at it is the main gripe from most on here and I can sort of agree because it'd be good to see if he can recapture the quality of his early breakout game vs Essn, because he's exactly what we need and I'd love him to succeed but I'm a firm believer in players earning it and...
I think you're stupidly overstating his Peel form but then again you were highly rating Emmett and Draper too. If what you say was true, he would've been selected well before he was, and stayed in for longer. Banfield was preferred to him all year, you know that, and you don't rate Banfield so I...
I think you're over playing it from what I can see on here but it's because he's had 5 years and still hasn't been able to establish himself as a consistent AFL performer. Yes, he's had some injuries but that's definitely being blown out of reality on here - he's had enough opportunities to...
Are you (and others) forgetting that Simpson comes from the Richmond school as well? Shuey would be very knowledgeable of the system.
I do totally agree with you that there would be a plethora of better options available to us though and I can't help think this thread is a big ******* joke!
Sturt is the best one we've got now but he hasn't been until now. He's been challenged to improve his game and play to his potential more often for a lvery, very ong time and he's failed to do that so it's understandable that the club has been holding off. His current form is still only ok so...
It's going to be hard for Max to get options at WAFL league despite being good enough. Even with Kuek out, Peel have Smith and Edwards on top of our Reidy and Max, all roughly around WAFL league level but they can't play all of them with a max of two being the most effective. We (rightfully) are...
O'Sullivan is a battler. Gutsy and tries hard but is not a very good footballer at AFL level. Has terrible decision making and disposal. If she's our secret weapon for this year, we're in big trouble.
I thought he may've been taller than 194, certainly looks and plays taller. In that case he will need to be mobile.
He doesn't look to be overly quick but nor does he look slow but of course that's WAFL and AFL is a different story. It'll be interesting how he tests as he has the strength...
I doubt Williams would be delisted. I'm certain he was a very speculative selection and knowing full well that he'll take time to show much so why delist after 1 year? He's also actually developed well too. At the start of the season he couldn't get amongst it in the ressies but built gradually...
Something to look forward to next year:
B. Ryan Pearce Wagner
HB. Clark Cox Chapman
C. O'Driscoll Serong Johnson
HF. Switta Jackson Schultz
F. Treacy Amiss Fredrick
R. Darcy Brayshaw Young
Int. Henry, Erasmus, Walters, Aish
Sub. Fyfe
Emerg: Worner, Stanley, Sturt
I can only see that working for short periods and only in certain games at certain times, and if that's the case, no need to play an extra ruck on top of Darcy, Jackson & Treacy.
Darcy, Jackson, Treacy & Knobel is ample for the list.
Why would we need to draft a replacement for Reidy when we've got Darcy, Knobel, Jackson and Treacy on the list all capable of rucking? That's plenty. Delist him and draft a different player, problem solved.
That'd be good. No one deserves to lose their spot from yesterday's 22, and other than Cox no one deserves to walk into it. Jonno was way off it in his last 2 games and Cox whilst being a better option can benefit from either another week off or a game at Peel on reduced minutes. Chappo is way off.
