    Who will captain the Giants?

They tough way Callan Ward plays he is certainly captain material. Luke Power if he plays the full season. Sam Mitchell if he's still on the radar ;)

    Tom Hawkins v Jack Riewoldt

Riewoldt is a gun mark and kick with much more ticker.

When will the AFL and Vic clubs abolish VFL premierships as AFL achievements?

AFL Premiership Tally 1. Carlton: 16 1. Essendon: 16 3. Collingwood: 15 OOH AH, and that's the way it is! The new clubs like Eagles and Port can always go back to their respective leagues if they want. But I think it's time they accepted they're in the big league now and to respect the...

Nick Riewoldt, his standing in the game and his future in the game.

LOL Probably the stupidest comment I've EVER read (either you haven't played the game or you just wanna bash Riewoldt;) Both marks were frickin' amazing and I must say I've seen Riewoldt run with the flight of the ball many times in his career so it wasn't a one off. nb: Incidentally he had no...

    Judd v Bartel

In a massive thread last week about the best player of the century you'll notice I was the only one to even mention Jimmy Bartel as one of the best (pre Grand Final - and that includes cats supporters)... but he's no Judd. Judd is on a different level and keeps going and going. Bartel is still a...

Geelong on the top shelf for AFL premierships

Grand Final Game Tips & Player Tips

Winner: Geelong by 4 pts 1st Goal Kicker: Chapman Norm Smith Medal: Bartel Most Disposals: Swan Most Goals: J-Pod I tip Travis Cloke to have a shot on the siren to win and miss. But if Clokey has his kicking boots on and the mighty pies can clinch this one, then they will join the Blues and...

Chris Judd - Greatest player of the 21st Century (so far)

After winning the first 3 flags of the century I'm surprised no Brisbane Lions players have been mentioned. Voss, J.Brown, Blacky and Aker were pretty damned good players! But the best must be Chris Judd. His pace and blind turns at West Coast were electrifying and he has adapted himself to...

Will the Pies' and Cat's players who don't get to play in the Final still get a medal?

Only those named in the team should ever get a medal. You wouldn't want one if you didn't play the big one. That's football. They actually gave out Runners-Up medals until Peter Moore threw his medal into the crowd in disgust after the '81 GF!

    Best Grand Final Individual Performance

'89 G.Ablett. Probably the best GF ever too, although last year's draw was pretty good. Esp. Goddard's mark!

Easily 4 BOSUSTOW - KERNAHAN - HAMILL (think he was) - GIBBS

The better team throughout the season wins the close prelim

Ok fair enough. Maybe I'm thinking of earlier on when they could have won the game, but couldn't land the killer blow - the whole game was so intense! But I do remember Bateman getting caught at least once in the last Q when he seemed to be looking for the dinky kick like they have done all...

The better team throughout the season wins the close prelim

I don't think Hawthorn would have choked if they had of moved the ball quickly and kicked the ball long to Buddy in the first three quarters. Instead they continued to chip it around and when Collingwood stepped up a gear that was all she wrote. Same thing happened against Geelong. Finals footy...

The better team throughout the season wins the close prelim

I'm just glad the pies won so we have a ripping Grand Final to look forward to. Hawthorn's dainty chip style footy would have been destroyed by Geelong fierce pressure and long kicking.

    Dane Swan Brownlow Medallist

Well done to Swannie. His work ethic is enormous and he deserves to win a brownlow. Maybe some teams will try and tag him now like they do to Juddy. I've only ever seen Lingy hanging off his tattooed sleeve. The hawks certainly didn't seem to worry about him on Friday night (big mistake)

Marc Murphy AFLCA Player of the Year

Well done, Murph, but at Carlton we have fatter fish to fry. Hopefully a Norm Smith against Collingwood next year!

    16 a side

I would trial less players on the ground for pre-season. I lean towards 16 a side. Maybe 5-6-5 with a pocket taken out so you would just have one crumber. I don't want to see the big hits go, but I hate it when some coaches slow down the game with forced congestion. Ruins the game IMO. Also...

Demetriou's done it again: 9 point goal potentially used in H&A season

Instead of the bounce in the centre after a goal, why not introduce Billy's wheel to decide which player gets the first kick? Imagine 90,000 people at the 'G' yelling, "SPIN THE WHEEL!"

Could Buddy spoil the party for Collingwood?

It would have to be one hell of a ripping game from Buddy to win this on his own. Afterall, the top two teams have been MILES ahead of the rest all season. Then again, 1999 showed anything can happen!

Skills galore, but not tough enough, name your man.

@The puppetmaster re J.Watts... OK I'll take your word since you've probably watched more games. Early signs I saw weren't good, that's all. Looked like he had no idea how to catch a player and tackle em hard (a bit like a chook with its head off sort of look - no vigour; no desperation). At...

    Daniel Kerr

Pound for pound Kerr is one of the best players I have ever seen play the game. It's a pity he's always injured. He's fearless, strong and skilful. I would love to see him smash up on Collingwood in a Grand Final (feathers would fly!), but I think Jimmy Bartel and his cool, calm and collected...
