An Open Letter To The Club Regarding Round 1 and the Hird/Archer Medal

    Past #18: Shaun Atley - delisted end '21 - 237 NM games / 44 NM goals - thanks Ats

I would be very keen to see him as an inside mid. Maybe not a guy who hits it first up like Cunners, but the guy right next to him that gives and goes. It's actually easier to tag blokes on the outside like Boomer IMO.

    2km Time Trial 10/1

He needs to get better, but it's a fine line, and as you say he will improve with age naturally. If you trim him down too much, he wont cope with the hits he is going to cop being around the ball. I reckon opposition sides have targeted Swallow at times because it takes the run out of his legs.

    2km Time Trial 10/1

I much prefer Cunners training for power than for endurance. Really he only needs enough of a tank to get from stoppage to stoppage. He should be the guy who is always at the coal face, and let Swallow and Ziebell who has trimmed down get the ball outside a little more than they have in...

    2014 Pre-Season Thread.

Dumont has an excellent build for a footballer. Looks to have a really strong core and a low center of gravity. Fair chance he will play next year IMO, and could really develop into something special down the track.

Don't know much about the kid, but you cant have to many blokes who can win their own ball IMO. Some say we need more outside types, but those kinds of players never shine unless the ball winners are on top. Cunners, Ziebell and Swallow are at times carrying too much load IMO. One more inside...

I only watched a couple of Werribee games, but he certainly comes across as one of the best athletes outside of the AFL. The fact he is still only 20, which like a couple of other posters surprised me surely means he has a lot of development left in him. Looking at the list I don't think we...

    The OFFICIAL 2012 Draft thread: Picks 15, 38, 42, 48, 58, 63

He doesn't scream prodigious talent to me either. What I like though is his hardness and footy smarts. I can see him making it ahead of someone like Harper who has all the natural talent in the world, but fails to apply it properly on a football field.

Past #15: Nick Dal Santo - 62 NM/322 AFL games - delisted by NM end '16 - retired from AFL Nov '16

He is going to be a gun player. He wont be a full bore at the bottom of a pack inside type, but his ability to release others by hand around congestion makes him very dangerous about the stoppages. He would be second only to Cunners with handball IMO. Add in his enormous engine which allows...

Past #30: Tom Curran - officially delisted/retired from North Melbourne (31/10/14)

Injuries are never a positive, but in some ways the delay with Curran has allowed us to get games into other players like Black, Tarrant and Daw without the pressure of yet another player who needs AFL experience. We have already lost Delaney due to competition for spots. It would be just like...

List Mgmt. The OFFICIAL 2013 Trade/Free Agency Targets Thread

To bloody busy these days to be bothered posting :p My impression of Tarrant has always been that he is deceptively quick in a straight line. Whenever I see him on a lead he usually has his opponent beaten, it then comes down to the kick, which, lets be honest, hasn't always been much chop the...

List Mgmt. The OFFICIAL 2013 Trade/Free Agency Targets Thread

Tarrant may not be the best overhead contested mark, but if we can improve our kicking inside F50 (NDS anyone?) he is going to get a f***ton of marks on the lead. 50+ goals next year if he stays fit IMO.

Past #24: Levi Greenwood - officially traded to Collingwood FC for pick 25 (2014) - retires rd16 2021 due to concussion symptoms - go well Pig

I agree. Whatever weaknesses he has, he is still way ahead of Siera and Jacobs.

Past #25: Robbie Tarrant - traded to RFC for CCJ&picks - 2yr deal at RFC - 174 NM games/44 NM goals - retires 13/7/23 effective immediately

I like him as a leading forward. He really gets up a head of steam in a straight line. If we can improve our entries inside F50 he should get on the end of quite a few IMO. Like others I am not a fan of his contested marking, but he has plenty of other AFL quality attributes.

What do you want to see the team work on for 2014?

Transition defense, and execution going inside F50. The latter will no doubt help the former.

    The Official 'GAGF' Port Thread.

Disappointing that the game today now means nothing. However North does not deserve to play finals and doing so would have papered over a lot of cracks. There needs to be some serious soul searching IMO, and a finals campaign might just lull a few into thinking we are still going alright.

List Mgmt. End of season trades and delistings

Personally I think they tried to take a shortcut with his development, and it has come back to bite them on the ass. They played him until he was so out of form, and so down on confidence that he is now barely VFL level.
